Macy wake up!"

I hear my mother shout from the bottom of the stairs.

"It's your last first day as a high schol student, your senior year!!"

I groan as I slowly open my eyes and see that it's 6:30 am. Oh how I would miss summer. I drug myself out of bed and to the bathroom, I showered, put a little bit of make up on, dried my hair and threw it up into a bun. I walked to the closet and chose my khaki skinny jeans and an All Time Low tank top. This was suitable for the first day, I wasn't trying to impress anyone anyways.

"Nick, hurry up."

I yell at my brother who takes longer than me to actually get redy for school.

"I'm almost ready Macy shut up."

He yells back. I giggle and mke my way down to the kitchen. I grab a muffin and kiss my mom on the cheek.

"Send Nick out soon, I don't want to be late."

I said while I walked to the front door, picked up my bag and went to the car.

"Sure thing Mac." My mom said. While I was climbing into the car, I heard my mom yell at Nick who came running out muffin in hand and shoes barely on his feet. This kid was never put together.

During the ride, it was silent.. Until the last five minutes or so.

"So Mac, who are you most excited to see? Michael???" He said, looking over at me raising an eyebrow.

"Why do you assume I'm excited to see Michael?" I ask, trying not to blush. I had only had the biggest crush on this kid my whole high school career.. This summer, we hung out and got close, I may or may not have gotten some feelings for him but who knows how he feels about me. Plus, he is popular, all the girls throw themselves at him and his three best friends, Calum, Luke and Ashton. He probably wouldn't talk to me on school grounds anyway because I wasn't really his type. I'm not a cheerleader, I'm not on a sports team.. the only thing I'm good at is math, I guess you could say I'm a nerd and the only people I hang out with are "nerds." No one talks to us at school which is why I was so surprised when Michael got my number from one of my friends and texted me asking me if I wanted to hang out. Of course I didn't say no and we had some really fun nights, staying out until dawn, having really nice talks and even making out a little. I knew once summer was over that was ll going to end so I tried not to develop feelings for him. I think it worked, I hope it did anyways.. I don't need a boyfriend while I'm focusing on school and trying to get into college.. Maybe this summer fling was a good thing.

We pull up to the school and I sigh.

"Macy, are you okay?"

"Yeah Nick, I'm fine.. I'll be in soon." I reply.

Nick leaves and I rest my head on the steering wheel when I hear a light knock on my window. I look up and it's Michael. He mouths the word "Hi" and motions for me to unlock the door. I unlock the door, he opens it, as I step out he is already getting my bag out of the back seat.

"Morning Mac!" He says smiling his beautiful smile.

"Morning Mike." I reply shyly.

"What's wrong?" He asks.

"Oh, nothing.. I just I thou-"

"Stop, I know what you're going to say, you're going to say Oh Michael I thought we were just a summer fling and you wouldn't talk to me at school in front of all your cool friends weren't you?"

"Well, I surely wasn't going to say your cool friends but close enough." I say and laugh a little. He laughs  little too and we walk in together. He opens the door and everyone immediately starts staring, it's not like we are a couple. I start walking faster towards my locker to void the uncomfortable stares, but Michael follows. I shakily try to put in my locker combo, asfter the 6th try Michael asks me what the number is.

"15-32-16" I say almost too quiet for him to hear in the crowded hall way. He gets it open first try.

"Why did you walk away like that.. I didn't even do anything." He says.

"Everyone was staring at us like we were together and it made me uncomfortable." I say looking into my locker.

"Macy, look at me.... We are friends, let people stare.. It shouldn't bother you unless you like me." He says calmly.

"You're right, sorry.." I say and close my locker.

"Where's your first class?"

"Math with Smith."

"Me too. Let's go." He says and leads us to the class room.
