Wendy

Slow was good. Slow she could handle. Slow was probably all she could handle, in reality.

She waited until the little pain lines smoothed between his brows, and then she leaned up and kissed the corner of his mouth, slow as promised, careful.

He turned his head so their lips were flush. Languid, closed-mouth kisses, his fingertips trailing up and down the length of her spine.

Ironically, it was the unhurried pace of things that made her desperate for it all to go faster. Heat gathered low in her belly, a dull, warm emptiness that ached. She'd never had slow before. She'd never had sweet and caring before.

No, she thought. She wouldn't let dark memories into this special moment here with Ollie. He had enough demons of his own; he didn't deserve hers too.

They kissed, noses bumping as they changed angles, and his tongue flirted against her lips again, like he was asking but uncertain. Like he still doubted that she wanted this.

She put her hands on his shoulders and pulled herself up higher against his chest. His hand, startled, skipped down her spine, lower, lower, and then...yes. He froze a moment, when he touched her ass. But then his grip tightened and he squeezed her.

"I..." he said against her mouth, his voice low and rough again, and even if she'd never heard it from Ollie, she knew well the sound of want.

"Only as slow as you want," she whispered back, and felt the rough pad of his thumb press at the hinge of her jaw, opening her mouth wider.

His tongue flicked between her teeth, teasing at her palate. Tangling with her tongue.

She was dimly aware that her fingers were curling in the fabric of his shirt, and that she was moving into the kiss, just a little, a gentle rocking to keep pace with the building tempo of their warm, wet, open exchange.

He pulled back suddenly, one hand still on her ass, the other cupping the back of her skull. His eyes, heavy-lidded, drugged, searched her face. "I meant at LG's party," he said, and his voice was wrecked. "Back when we were in school, still. That night on the balcony. When I said I should have kissed you before, I meant then."

She wet her lips, and didn't know why – they were already slick. Maybe just to hear the little sound he made in the back of his throat in response. "That's what I figured."

"But not just then. Lots of other times, too."

"Okay."

He pulled her in again, their damp lips sliding and then fitting together. He sucked on her lower lip, tested it lightly with his teeth.

Jesus.

Then he pulled back again with a sharp breath. "Wait, wait. Okay. Wait."

Their foreheads touched, too close for Wendy to make out his features with any clarity.

"There are...there are things I want you to know. Before."

She took a deep breath of her own. "Okay."

"Wait here. Sorry."

She slid off his lap and he got to his feet, rearranging his jeans.

She had to bite back a smile, pleasant warmth surging through her in tides. Sex had never been a thing like this, and she didn't care how long it took, she was in. All in.

He walked all the way over to his nightstand, and opened the drawer where he'd kept her letters. He walked back with his head down, chewing at his lip, small bundle of tri-folded paper in one hand.
