Too Late

I tried to hold your hand

But you'd rather drift apart

And maybe this was unplanned

But I'm giving you a head start

With every cut you made

You broke my heart

I'll leave you practicing your first aid

And look for a fresh start

While the blood drips down your wrist

I'll hope you do recall

The times I did insist

Time would heal all

So I'm leaving for now

And trying not to look back

There's too much pain I simply can't allow

I'm sorry, you made my world black

But I just heard the news

They found you strung up with a note

That you tied to your shoes

And I can't believe what you wrote

You said how you were sorry

For the walls that pushed me away

But I was even more sorry

They were put up to see if I would fight to stay

And you apologized for the cuts

The way you made me cry

You were just testing my guts

And I know I'm the reason you had to die

I'm sorry I didn't stay

I didn't get what you wanted me to see

The message you were trying to relay

Was that you really loved me

But it's too late now

To apologize to you

And I realize now

That I loved you too
