"Alpha, Luna, Phoenix." I respectfully greet each in turn as I enter Alpha Night's office.
He sits behind his desk, while Luna Ara stands next to him, and Freya at the window. I didn't expect her or the Luna to be here, but okay.
"Mae, it's good to see you again." Ara greets with a friendly smile.
I muster up a tired smile back. It's been a long, draining night. Especially after seeing my mate, and coming to terms that I've actually found him. It took a lot out of me.
"How is the rogue?" Alpha Night asks, getting straight to business.
I've never had a problem with him, but he does intimidate me, even though the Luna and I have become somewhat of friends. After treating her so much at the hospital last year, and even seeing her get marked, I guess you could say we became close. No one forgets something like that. Not even a Pack Doctor who's pretty much seen it all.
I'm not sure what the right answer is, so I decide to treat him as I would any other patient.
"Good, Alpha. He is stable and his wounds have mostly healed. He will be out for another day or two." I state professionally.
He nods, thinking over what I've said.
"Do you have a name?"
I turn towards the new voice, coming from the window. Her back has previously been to me, but she turns as she says this, meeting my eyes. I immediately look down, her very presence making me uncomfortable. It's not that I don't like her, she's odd, but still nice. It's simply the sheer power she gives off that's unsettling if you haven't encountered it before.
"A name? No." I admit, gazing at the intricate designs on the rug in the middle of the room.
"Hmmm..." She muses, and I glance up just in time to see the glint in her eyes before she turns away again.
My eyes snap back to Alpha when he speaks.
"What do you know?" He asks with a frown.
I'm shocked at the hostility in his voice, before I realize he isn't speaking to me.
"Who, me? Oh nothing." Freya says breezily from the window, but the amusement in her voice says otherwise.
"Freya..." He warns, as thinly veiled frustration slips into his tone.
"Please, if you know anything, it would help."
Three pair of eyes all shoot to me as I realize what I've just said. They all look slightly shocked, even her, because I'm never one to speak out of turn like that. My cheeks heat up.
"Um, as his doctor I need to know." I backtrack, hoping no one caught the emotion in my voice earlier.
Freya turns toward me fully then, eyes regarding me curiously. I've always found it unsettling when she does that. It's like she is looking into my very soul, uncovering all of my deepest, darkest, most hidden secrets. She's searching for something, I'm not sure what, but after a few moments of uncomfortable observation, she seems to find it.
She pulls a file out of seemingly thin air, leaving us all confused.
"Where did you-" Alpha starts, but she cuts him off.
"Places." She simply says, flouncing over to me.
She hands me the file before crossing back to her position at the window. I'm unsure of how to react, but curiosity beats me and I open the manilla cover, scanning over the contents greedily.
"Blake Hart. Recently turned 27. From the Sandstone Pack. Rogue for....I would say 3 months now." She informs us all, casually leaning against the window's ledge.
