Scarlett's POV

I was currently stacking books at Barnes and Nobles, which is my horrible yet lovely job.

"Scar?" I heard a familiar voice call from behind me. I whipped my head around to see who this voice belonged to, only to find it belonged to my best friend Zayn.

"Hey Zayn!" I said quickly before engulfing him in a hug.

Zayn had been there since day one. I met him when he worked behind the counter of the Starbucks here, and we kind of just became friends. We are complete opposites, but that is why we are best friends.

"What are you doing here?!" I asked as I pulled away.

"Well I was taking a walk and I found myself walking in here so.. Anyways I was wondering if you wanted to come to a party?", he asked putting his hands in his pockets.

Um, I'm not quite sure about this party, Zayn tends to go all out with all the alcohol. And I feel that the people at the party will be wasted. Of course without thinking I respond.

"Yeah , sure! Who's all invited?", I ask, as I continue to stack books.

He suddenly looks up rubbing his chin,

"Some of my mates, some other people and of course my best friend!", he says looking back at me,then picking up a book and reading the title aloud.

"The Notebook. Hmm, isn't there a movie over this?," he asked placing it back down on a shelf.

How am I even friends with him?

"Yep, it's a bit cheesier in the film though.", I say.

He just stands there and examines the books perfectly aligned on the shelf. I break the awkward silence by asking all the questions that are flowing through my head.

"So when is the party? Is it at your place? What should I wear? Is there going to be Food?", I ask rambling through questions that seem to be going through my mind.

"Woah there Scar, I'll text you everything you need to know,"

This is why we are friends.

"Oh and by the way I think the book is more cheesier than the movie," he says while turning his heels.

"Whatever!" I yell as he is making his way to the exit door. He quickly turns to wave, I watch as he disappears out of the store.

I go back to stacking books when I feel a tap on my shoulders , I turn my head to see a familiar red head. Mandy? I think is her name.

She speaks up,

"You can go now, it's my turn for my shift."

I quickly give her a nod as a response leaving for the day.
