Stefan's P.O.V

Elena and Damon were the perfect lovey-dover-horny couple. All over each other every minute they get. They sicken me but at the same time I love them both; as a brother and as a lover*. Ella had walked out after the announcement of the vacation at Washington State. Apparently, she had a bad past there. I move to follow her but was stopped by Elena.  

"Stefan, be careful," Elena said softly as she stood in front of me, "She may hurt you." 

I nodded stiffly; I haven't been this close to her after our breakup. Damon came up behind her and looped his arms around her waist.  

"Careful little bro," he said. "I would hate it if you lost your head." 

Since she had some human blood in her, I easily caught whiff of her unique smell. I found her at the Falls staring out while sitting on a large rock. As I got closer, I realize that she was singing a song. 

And I'll be gone, gone tonight  

The ground beneath my feet is open wide 

The way that I've been holding on so tight, with nothing in between 

The story of my life, I take her home, I drive all night to keep her warm and time, is frozen 

The story of my life, I give her hope, I spend her all until she's broke inside

"That's a nice song Ella. It was amazing," I said surprising her. She jumped and looked back at me. She smiled softly and thanked me. 

"Your cute when you blush," I teased. She scoffed at me and shoved me. She gave me a faltering smile and I sighed as I held my arms out. She ran into them as she cried into my chest. 

"I don't want to go back, I don't," she chanted, "I don't wanna go!" 

"You're not going anywhere if you continue to act like a child okay?" I told her, rubbing her back comfortingly, "You have to be strong and face the problem head on." 

She looked up at me with teary eyes and chuckled. 

"What happened to the awkward Stefan that I know?" she asked teasingly. I gave her a smile. 

"I was ordered to protect you Ella," I told her, remembering Klaus's order. "It's my duty to tell you cheesy quotes and make you feel better." 

"Are you only doing this because Klaus told you to?"  

"Over the months that I've spent practically glued to you," I start, "I've learned that you were worth protecting. You know why? Because you have a charm, a charm that attracts people and pull them in to love you and adore you." 

She giggles at that, "A charm? That's the first." 

"Well it's true," I defended, "You have a unique and flexible personality, able to adapt to a person's likes easily. That's why you're so likeable." 

"You're my second bestest friend, you know that right Stefan?" she told me. She looked at me with wide eyes and I suddenly remembered the reason why I actually protected her. 

Under the snappy remarks and the smart persona, she was still a little girl. She had grown too fast and was force to be an adult for a short time. That's why I felt the duty to protect her, because I felt sorry for the girl that grew up to fast. She was still the little girl that she is and even if she acts all mature, she will never lose the childlike innocence or her bright smiles. I wanted to make sure that those don't disappear.  

"Of course I do." 

We stayed like that, wrapped in each other's arms and watching the sky light up in orange, pink, and blue. In that moment I knew that Ella Mikaelson was special and I would do anything to keep her safe from harm.

Hey mah peeps! Yes! I updated! How cool is that? So the last chapter I explained how I hate Elena. And I'm sorry for all of you people that like her. But she is just so whiny! And she says that she's not another Katherine but she's worst. Have you seen the third episode of Season 5? She totally loves Stefan and yet she claims to 'Love' Damon. But she completely ignored him when she was rescuing Stefan. Katherine was much better. At least she was openly bitchy but Elena always plays the innocent card. I now understand why Rebekah hates her. So I should now stop rambling. Enjoy!
