Chapter One: A Mysterious Message
Clara Jones would never admit that she was sad, lonely and depressed inside. At school she was the one that tried her hardest to make everyone happy.
Maybe it was because she didn't want others to feel the pain she was feeling.
"Clara?" her best friend yelled from under her window. "You there?"
"You idiot!" she whisper-screamed. "Of course I'm here!"
Leon Carter was her boyfriend. That is, a friend that is a guy, not her boyfriend boyfriend.
Clara opened the window and he climbed through.
"Jeez, use the backdoor or something next time." She said, jumping back on her bed.
"Why? Then I have to go through your mom, and she would bombard me with questions about school and last time she asked me questions you just filmed it all! Bastard."
Clara laughed. "It was funny. Want some chips?"
"Why aren't you like normal girls?"
"What are normal girls anyways?"
"You know, scared about being fat, applying makeup, spending time shopping-"
"Stop right there." Clara said, eating some more chips. "Do you want me to look like someone painted my face with crayons?"
Leon squinted. "Did you get that saying off the internet? Wow, I didn't think you knew the internet existed."
"Shut up!" she laughed, while slamming him with a pillow.
"Ow, pillows hurt you know."
"I know, that's why I make sure to whack them in your face extra hard."
Leon sighed. "So, what's up?"
"You think I can play sick and not hand in my English assignment?"
Leon looked at Clara at horror. "You had like a term to do that, and it wasn't even that hard!"
"Ah, procrastination is truly a bitch."
"Well, if procrastination is a habit that you make, and what you make is based on your judgement, and your judgement comes from you, then aren't you calling yourself a bitch?"
"Well a bitch is a female dog, dogs are cute, so are you telling me that I'm cute?"
"Damn it, I swear, where do you get all these comebacks from?" Leon laughed as he flipped over a magazine.
"It's called a brain, you should try using it sometime."
He looked up. "Not going to stop, are you?"
"Not my fault that you're too stupid to retaliate."
"Why am I here anyway at your house?"
"Well, I did call you to help with my English assignment." Clara said, sorting out her book pile.
"Help? You mean do your homework for you?"
"Knowing you it's probably because your grandfather kicked you out."
"Mm, so now you can hear my thoughts?"
"Maybe you should stop being so predictable. And, um since you're here you can actually try and help me with my homework."
