Simon had learned another thing about his roommate: he was fast. Leo was hardly more than a blur as the blond tried to keep up, though he didn’t mind the challenge. There was a smile on both of their faces, though Simon’s was still rather small.
“Come on, love, keep up!” Leo cheered. A few students had to step aside for the boys as they hurried out of the Dove House building and over to the fountain, where Simon could see Mitchell and the twins. Jos and Vic clearly noticed him too, waving at their friend. Mitchell was just barely able to be seen, having climbed onto Vic’s back. Simon waved back, his doughy brown eyes flashing with recognition.
“Simon!” Jos called. Simon managed somehow to catch up with Leo and grab his wrist, leading him towards the fountain and his classmates. As soon as he got close enough, he felt himself being swept into a tight hug by the twins, one of whom ruffled his wavy blond hair. “Hey, Simon, is this your roommate?” Jos asked. Simon nodded, his face going red.
“Yeah. This is Leo.”
Leo seemed to be trying not to laugh as he flashed a peace sign at them. “Hey. Who are you?” He asked. Jos and Vic smiled, though Mitchell blushed and attempted to hide his face.
“I’m Jos, and this is Vic.” Jos said happily.
“Alright.” Leo nodded. “Who’s the boy on your back?”
Like you don’t know, Simon thought. You were just talking about how much you wanted to fuck him.
“Hm? Oh, this is Mitchell.” Vic replied, looking up at the smaller. Mitchell flashed a tiny smile at Leo.
“Hi…” He mumbled softly.
“So…should we head to building four?” Simon glanced over at the building.
“Nah. Adam said there’s a pretty good café in Silverwood. We can go there.”
“Silverwood?” Mitchell repeated. “You mean that shopping square? But that’s off-campus. We’re allowed to go off-campus?”
“Yeah.” Jos responded quickly. “At least during meals we are. Come on, it’s only about a ten minute walk.”
Leo shrugged. “Alright. I’m good for it.”
“Mitchell? Simon?”
“Sure, I guess. As long as we don’t get in trouble.” Simon replied. Mitchell merely nodded, the only response he gave being a small “Okay”.
“Mitchell, I’m afraid I can’t carry you all that way. You gotta get down, kiddo.”
“O-Oh…sorry.” Mitchell said, climbing off of Vic’s back.
They all started walking, leaving the school gates. Simon couldn’t help but notice how diverse this group was. All of them were from different countries – Mitchell was from England, the twins were possibly Australian, and Leo was Irish. He scanned over everyone’s features. The twins’ tan faces and cerulean eyes, the red hair that Mitchell and Leo shared (though Mitchell’s hair was more crimson). He looked so…boring next to these four.
As they got further away from the school grounds, Vic spoke up.“None of you guys are allergic to cats, right?”
“Cats?” Simon asked, thoroughly perplexed. After he, Leo, and Mitchell had all said that no, they weren’t allergic to cats, the only response they received from either of the twins was a “Good” from Vic as he winked at his brother. Leo and Simon looked at each other, Mitchell grabbing Leo’s sleeve. Leo himself noticed this and smiled.
“Hi.”
They all walked in silence until Vic seemed to be getting bored. Or tired, one of the two. He was kind of dragging his feet. Jos saw this almost immediately and started shoving him playfully. They really are like dogs, Simon noticed. He didn’t mean this in a bad way, of course. Vic laughed and did the same back to his twin. Leo smirked.
