My Death Walk

The light fades away,
Slowly,
Going.
I'm trapped,
Within the darkness of my mind.
A sudden light floods the room,
And then I'm with him.
He takes my hand and leads me somewhere,
I don't know where but I'm going.
Down a path we're walking slowly,
People are screaming,
People are calling.
I reach for them but he stops me,
He tells me to just let them be.
And I walk away,
Without another word to say.
Down a hallway lines with mirrors,
I see myself and I see others.
I see my sins and I see my guilt,
I see people shut out by the walls I'd built.
Everything blurs and it all disappears,
And I wipe away my guilty tears.
There are now two doors before me,
I must choose how I want to spend eternity.
One promises forgiveness and the other promises punishment,
I have lived my life and must now face the consequence.
The door I chose opens up to a bottomless pit,
Where hungry flames are the life of it.
I close my eyes and fall into the fiery bliss,
Fully knowing that I deserve this.
The flames capture me and will hold me forever,
Because I know I don't deserve to enter heaven.
