It's been almost six months since she left him. Almost six months since she broke his heart along with every promise she'd ever made him. It's been almost six months since she turned her back on him and walked out the door.
And since that day nothing for him has changed. He still loves her as much as he did before she left. He still craves her touch. He still longs for her kisses. He still misses the nights when he could hold her while they slept.But today he had strength. When she stopped him on the street, almost six months later, and told him she still loved him. He had strength.
He wanted to reach out for her, pull her close and kiss her. He wanted to make up for all then lost time. He just wanted her. But instead he looked her dead in the eye and said:
"You never did," in a near whisper.
Then he gathered the rest of his strength; turned and walked away from her quickly. He walked away from what he once saw as his future. He walked away from his happiness and his sadness at the same time.
By the time he reached the end of the street, the tears that had been collecting in his eyes fell, leaving temporary stains on the pavement.
