I was just an ordinary girl like everyone else. My name was Julia. I had blond hair and green eyes. There was nothing special about me. Actually, that's what I thought. My dad, called Julian, had curly blond hair and blue eyes. He was the saddest person alive. Let me explain what he looked like when he was sad: It was like he missed something, something very important and he didn't knew what it was. He stared to the ground and just sat there on the black chair. Even his new girlfriend, Lucy, saw that he was sad. ''You can see it in his eyes.'' she told me once. The only thing she wanted to know was why so that she could help. I didn't really knew either. He was always like this since I was little. I only wanted him to be happy.
I ran down the stairs and opened the door to the living room. 'Dad, have you seen my hairbrush?' I asked. He was sitting on the chair at the table, while he was talking to his girlfriend. He immediately stopped talking and looked at me. 'I don't know,' he answered and looked at Lucy. 'Have you seen it?' She nodded. 'You can always buy a new one, honey.' she said to me. I shrugged my shoulders. My father stood up and walked to his jacket, which was laying on the couch. I saw him grabbing his wallet. 'What are you doing?' I asked curiously. He wasn't giving me money, was he? 'Dad, you don't need to. I have my own money.' He walked towards me and put something in my hand. 'Can you also get some snacks for tonight?' I lifted my eyebrows. 'for tonight, why?' He tried to put a smile on his face. 'Me and Lucy are gonna watch a film together. You can join if you like.' He knew exactly what I was going to say. I'm not sitting between a couple who are constantly flirting. 'No never.' I said grinning.
I grabbed my shoes and put them on. Lucy gave my coat. She was really sweet and like a mother to me, although I never really had a mother and I had really no idea how it was supposed to feel. My dad told me my mum died after I was born. There were some complications when she gave birth to me. I always thought that she would be something like Lucy.
I opened the door and walked to the drugstore, which was nearby.
There were a lot of people here. I saw an old lady looking for shampoo, a little boy whinging because he didn't got what he wanted to have, a girl my age was looking at a foundation and a man with a bow tie who was looking at me strangely. I had never seen him before and thought he was some kind of creep. I looked at all the brushes they had. God, why do they have so much hairbrushes. Like they are probably all the same. After a while I picked just a random one. I am not a beauty guru who knows much about how to look perfect. This one seems fine. I walked over to the snacks and just grabbed a few things. From the corner of my eyes I saw the man. He was still starring. What was his problem? I didn't feel very comfortable. I ignored him and was going to pay for the stuff.
I loved the fresh air outside. It's just better than sitting inside a house in a room. Suddenly my head started to hurt and it only got worse with every step I made. At a certain point it was really painful and I tried to look forward and kept trying to go home. Then I saw a blue box. A police box. I thought those things belonged to the last century. When I was 50 yards away from the box, I felt that my headache didn't hurt as much as it did minutes ago. How relieved that I was.
