Chapter One

Emma POV

"Where are you? I don't wanna be late to the buses!!" I tell my best friend Mackenzie through the phone. She's supposed to be picking me up so we can head to our high school to load the bus for a band trip to Disney but ya know, she's late...as usual...
"I'm turning into your driveway right now calm your tits bitch!" She raises her voice a little.
"Bish I know you ain't yelling at me!!" I say jokingly.
"Oh my god just get outside." She says and hangs the phone up. I grab my suitcase and go outside after saying goodbye to my parents and listening to them rant about the 'no boys, no drugs, no alcohol rule'. I just roll my eyes cause I mean I know I'm dumb sometimes but drugs are just nasty man. No promises on the guys though...When I get to her truck I see my other best friend, Kayla, in the back seat. I put my stuff in the backseat and get in the passengers seat.
"Are y'all ready to partyyyy??" I ask.
"Duhhhh." They say in unison.
"I know you are Kayla considering your bae is gonna be there." I say and laugh. Her "bae" is Drew. He's one our best friends, along with Thomas and Justin.
"Girllll you know it."
"What about you Kenzie? I bet you're excited to see Thomas again, aren't youuuu?" I ask.
"Dead." She gives me a glare. Thomas is her ex...She can deny it all she wants but she still wants him. And he wants her too. Everyone can see it...
*skipping the like 10 min car ride*
We arrive at the school and see everyone standing around waiting for our band directors, Mr. Birdman and Mr. Johnson to get here.There's only like 20 of us going on the trip in total. I'm just glad all my friends are going. Unfortunately, the egg (Amber) is going. We call her the egg because she has an egghead. She used to date Justin. Ever since he broke up with her she's had this weird obsession with him. It's really creepy. One time she showed up at his house...and she's convinced he still loves her. So I'll have to deal with her trying to flirt with him which sucks because I kinda like him. Like no bitch no. He's mine...well not yet...but still. We see the guys and walk up to them with our luggage.
"Hey Mackenzie." Thomas says while smiling. His eyes light up when he sees her. It's so freaking obvious he likes her. I just wish she'd see it...
"Hey Tommy...Just saying y'all better save us seats at the back of the bus with y'all or Emma is gonna make y'all run. Right Emma?" I can make them run because I'm drum major for our marching season this year.
"Yup!"
"Haha dead I ain't running." Justin says while smiling and laughing. Ugh he's so cute...why can't he be mine already?
"Mhmm whatever." I say back to him, knowing that he's just joking. "But seriously though save us two seats if we aren't in the front of the line cause we wanna sit in the back."
"Yeah sure I guess we can do that..." Drew says. Justin then whispers something in his ear that causes him to smile and blush while looking at Kayla. Uh oh Drew...you crushing on my bae??? Oh shit me & Kenzie gotta make a plan to make sure that happens now!! Hehehehehehe.
"Oh god no there's Zach, Emma hide me." Justin says and then tries to use me as his shield. Wtf dude you're like 6 inches taller than me...he can clearly still see you...
"Umm he can still see you, you know that right...?" I ask while laughing a little. I turn around and look at him with an amused look on my face. He blushes a little when he realizes I'm right.
"I-i know...I just-he just scares me okay..." He says while looking down at the ground.
"Um...why? I mean other than the fact he screams rapist..." I ask him. I hate Zach so much. Everyone does...he's really arrogant and just plain annoying. He looks at the others to see if they are listening. They're all in their own worlds. Mackenzie is arguing with Thomas about some Star Wars theory. keeps pestering Jakayla in weird ways.
"Okay, I never told anybody this cause if embarrassed me and scarred me for life but Zach tried to..get with me once..." He whispers to me. I bust out laughing but when I look back at him I see he isn't kidding.
"Oh my god...are you serious?? I'm so sorry Justin...so he's like gay?"
"Yeah I guess...i don't know. All I know is that he tried to kiss me one day and I then punched him and told him to stay the fuck away from me." I feel so bad for him...Zach is so freaking ugly and gross. Nobody should have to experience that.
"Aww it's okay Justy come here..." I give him a hug. He's so warm and cuddly omg...I can't deal with this. He gives the best hugs ever. Oh shit I'm probably hugging him for too long. I quickly pull away and we kinda just stare at each other awkwardly for a couple seconds.
Mr. Birdman then speeds up in his big ass red truck with Johnson in the passenger seat. When he finally parks and they get over to where we are Bird tells the seniors to load their stuff in the luggage places and get on the bus. The guys head to the bus since they're seniors and get on. Kenzie, Kayla, and I make our way to the front of the line so that we can be the first ones on the bus when he calls juniors. He finally calls us and we quickly put our stuff up and get on the bus and make our way to the back. Kenzie and I sit in the seat next the Justin and Thomas. Justin is sitting by the aisle and Thomas is by the window. Kayla sits behind us in the seat next to Drew's. I internally groan when I see Amber and Alyssa get in the seat in front of us. Alyssa is Amber's best friend.
"Hey Mackenzie!!" Amber says all happily. Kenzie smiles and waves back. Her and Mackenzie are kinda friends now but she still hates me and Kayla. She ignores the fact I'm here and looks at Justin.
"Heyyy Justinnnn." She says all flirty. Ugh. I give Mackenzie a look and she just pats my leg basically saying 'it's okay I understand you want to kill her'.
"Uh hi..." He says uncomfortably. Birch gets on the bus and calls roll to make sure everyone's here. We then leave for the long ass ride to Florida.
"Sooo Justin how's life?" Amber asks Justin. He gives me a look like 'why the hell is she talking to me'. I give him a sympathetic look.
"It's great. Hey Em wanna listen to music with me?" He hands me his other earbud. Amber gives me a dirty look and huffs then turns around.
"You should let me choose the song. Pleaseeee." I beg and give him a pouty face.
"Ugh fine sure." He smiles all cutely and hands me his phone and I choose the glee version of the song 'Thong song'. He secretly loves this song...even though he denies it all the time.
"You know you love this song." I say while laughing. I start singing along with it and making weird dance moves to the song. "Come on sing with me!!" He laughs and shakes his head then joins in when it gets to the 'she had dumps like a truck' part. So many people are judging us probably. When the song ends we both die laughing.
"Y'all have so many problems." I hear Kayla say from behind us. We turn around and look at her. Drew is just sitting there shaking his head.
"Hey you can't say anything bish I know you love that song." I say to her.
"Okay yeah true..."
"Exactly..Hey Drew check your phone. I have to ask you a question." I see Kayla frown a little but she just shakes it off and puts a smile back on her face. Oh shit no no no she better not be thinking somethings going on...I'm just trying to hook her and Drew up...it's okay me and Kenzie's plan will work. Drew just nods his head.
"Okay well I'm just gonna listen to my music." Kayla says sadly. I look back at Drew and he seems concerned in her sudden mood change. I motion for him to talk to her and he nods his head while giving me a thumbs up. I turn back around and take my phone out to text him.
Me: you crushing on my bae??😏😏
Him: idk what you're talking about...besides she wouldn't like me back even if I did. I'm not good enough for her...😔
Me: well if you do like her, I'm sure she would like you back. You're a great guy and y'all deserve each other...she just has trust issues.
Him: idk...
Me: just talk to her more and show her that she can trust you.
Him: okay I will...
I tell Justin I'm going to talk to Mackenzie about everything and he nods his head. I lean over to Mackenzie and let her read the messages between me and Drew. I really hope they end up dating because they seriously deserve each other. It's so obvious they like each other too like I wish Justin and I had that kind of connection...but I probably have no chance...ugh I can't think about this I'm gonna get all sad. Me and Justin start listening to music together again and we do more weird dance moves. I look over at Mackenzie and she's filming us, probably so she can put it on her snapchat story. My favorite duet ever from Glee comes on, Defying Gravity between Rachel and Kurt, and we sing the song perfectly, him doing Kurt's parts and me doing Rachel's parts. I swear he's so cute...I wish he'd just see how much I like him... After about an hour of being weird and jamming out to glee songs with Justin, I decide to take a nap.
"Hey Justy I'm kinda sleepy so I'm gonna go to sleep." He nods his head and starts talking to Thomas about something.
"Hey bish I'm going to sleep." I tell Mackenzie, who is reading The Maze Runner series for like the 3rd time. Her and books I swear. I give her a weird look.
"Hey don't judge me you know I can't live without my books bish...but okay." She says.
She literally brought like 6 books with her to read while we're gone. I just laugh and shake my head before leaning on the bus seat and falling asleep.
