For reference: A tessen (also known as an iron fan) is a Japanese style fan that is made of iron. It was most commonly used by samurai who would carry it into places that more noticeable weapons were not allowed. The thin sheets of iron could be used to deflect throwing stars and also made the fan able to take place of a throwing star. They were also said to be used as a hand flipper for swimming too.
On a completely different note, I've heard that most phobias are associated with a point in time where something traumatizing happens in one's life. It's based on this that parts of this story will be written.
TRIGGER WARNING!!!! This will be kind of depressing on some parts so that's the warning up right there for you mmmkay. Be careful.
