A cloaked figure snuck through the palace grounds. Her face was hidden by her hood and she clutched a knife in her hand.
She entered the large, oak doors, walked down the long passages and up the spiral staircases. She slipped past distracted guards and hid when she heard some one coming.
Almost there, she thought, so close!
She walked through another door with pride. So close to her goal, so close!
She had stopped paying attention to her surroundings (she was so excited) and suddenly got stopped by a guard.
" Who are you and what do you want?" He said in a deep voice
" Hasn't your mother ever taught you how to treat a lady?" The woman replied and kicked him in the ribs leaving him on the floor.
After that she had no more distractions and continued with ease.
She finally reached a large, oak door just like the one at the castle entrance, but smaller. She stopped in front of it and took a shaky breath before entering.
Once inside she took off her hood to reveal dark, wavy hair and a pale face.
In front of her lay the king of the land, fast asleep. The woman raised her knife above the king and was about to kill him until she stepped on a creaky floor board and the king awoke.
" Maria," said the king. " What are you doing?"
" Getting revenge, Randolph," Maria replied, her voice shaking slightly. "Why else would I be here."
" So you've decided to kill me," Randolph said. " No, no that won't do at all. I apologize Maria but I think I have to call my guards. ALREA!"
A girl with red hair burst into the room.
" Please take Maria to the dungeons" Randolph told her.
" Yes sir" Alrea replied and began dragging Maria out of the room with help from another guard.
"NO!" Maria screamed at Randolph as she was being taken away. "No you can't do this to me! You killed him! You killed my husband! You killed him!"
