My phone buzzed. Again. I have been getting these weird texts asking me what size shoe I wear or my jean sizes. My best friend, Katie, said I should call the cops, but it wouldn't help because they don't do anything. Plus I don't want my dad to know because he would find a way to make it my fault and I would get grounded.

"Jade!" my mother called, "I thought I told you to load the dishwasher." I ran down the stairs before my brother could slip out the door. I could tell my mom was cranky because she was dressed up in her work clothes and her hair was done nice. She was a lawyer and hated it. "You told Andrew to do it. I unloaded it." I said to her. My brother hated to load the dishwasher so he kicked me in the back of the knee and I turned around and slapped him. "Jade!" my mom screamed at me. "He started it!" I screamed back at her. "I expect you to be the mature one. After all you are the older one, aren't you?" That was it. She always took his side. I spit my tongue out at her and ran out the front door. "Jade!" she sighed.

I kept running until I reached Katie's house. I knew I couldn't stay long because my mom would come looking for me, take me home, make me apologize to Andrew and make me clean the house including Andrew's room. I decided that I would come back later after this quick visit.

In the driveway there was a black limousine with tinted windows so no one could see in. It usually there but that didn't stop me. I ran up to the door and knocked. Katie came to the door looking nervous and twisting her long, beautiful brown hair around her finger. She was dressed in skinny jeans and a light pink Aeropostle shirt that I bought for her birthday. She looked great.

She motioned me in and brought me into the living room. Her mom was sitting on the couch and across from her on my favorite wicker chair was a sharp dressed man who looked at me like he knew me but I had no idea who he was. "Did I interrupt something?" Katie looked at me and said, "Jade, this is Riley McGregor. He was offering me something when you walked in." Riley, the name made me sad, but I don't know why. Riley stood up and shook my hand. "Jade Hallet?" I nodded. How did he know my name? "I've been looking for you all over but couldn't find you. It is a pleasure to meet you." I had no idea what he was talking about. I try to motion Katie to the kitchen but her mom caught her arm and said no. This dude was starting to creep me out. The only stalker I've ever had was the one that keeps texting me if that even counts. Just then my mom pulled into the driveway. Crap, I'm dead. "Got to go now. Bye. See you later." Riley quickly jumped in my way. " Is that your mom?" What does it matter to him. I think he is just trying to stall. My mom knocks on the door and just walks in. She has no manners when she is angry. I quickly push Riley out of the way and dart for th eback door.

There was only one reason  I joined track and that is so I could run faster than my mom. She runs fast, even in heels. She asked Katie's mom where I went and she told her but normally she doesn't rat me out. Riley tries to introduce himself but she pushes him out of the way and chases me. I just keep running without looking back. Soon I reach my hiding place and hide.
