Chapter 1

I awoke in a heap of snow.

I got up slowly, wincing as pain shot through my shoulder. I studied the wound as this morning's events came back to me.

Wait, no.

I peered up at the sky, the sun barely peeking over the trees. It was earlier than the time I had come home, so that meant I was unconscious.... for about a day? I was thankful that I didn't die of blood loss or something, but I still felt weak.

"Oh, so you're awake."

My head turned towards the silky voice slowly, and my breath caught in my throat at the sight of a gorgeous woman with snow white hair. It cascaded down her back, ending just above her ankles. Her face was smooth, and bright red lipstick coated her lips. White elbow-length satin gloves covered her arms. Her skin was very pale, but still beautiful nonetheless.

"W-who are you?" I stammered, my eyes unable to leave her.

"I'll tell you later, darling," she said, a tight smile on her face. "Right now, I need you."

I stared at her blankly. "Wha-"

"Let me explain, darling." What is with her and calling me darling? "Currently, I need a... human to serve me, to take care of things in this world."

My mind span, and suddenly, in the midst of the confusion, I understood perfectly.

"You want me to become your trained soldier in this world, to dispose of people in your way and speak with other beings like you who are enjoying a vacation in this world." My eyes widened as I digested what I just said. "Wait, how did I even know that?!"

"I just sent that information to your mind, darling. It is what beings like me can do, unlike you inexperienced humans." A cold hardness flashed in her eyes before it went away. "You have no choice but to accept this task, doll."

First darling, and now doll? Stop the names, please!

"If you decline, I'm afraid that we will have to... dispose of you."

I let out a small whimper as countless images were sent into my mind, each one portraying a possible death I could have if I refused. That is some messed up shit... Wait, is that a..? I'm not even going to ask. Nope.

"Okay, miss." I gulped nervously. "I accept."

Information was sent to my head, and I understood my task as her human "soldier."

"Very well, my soldier. You will now start to skip school. You will not go to it until I am satisfied with your training."

"Wait, what about my mother? She'll be wo-"

"Your mother has already been wiped out of this world," she cut in, no emotion in her words. "Your father killed her, under the influence of what humans call 'alcohol,' and once he sobered up, he killed himself, too."

I was as rigid as a tree, tears forming in my eyes. I had not loved my father... but before all of the alcohol, he was very loving and caring. I broke out of my shocked state and collapsed, sobs escaping my chests. My mother always tried to do her best for me, sometimes spending her whole paycheck just to satisfy me. I felt my hand clench into a fist as I remembered when he knocked her down without any guilt, walking right past her as he grabbed me. Maybe I had loved him once, but I would never love him again for the crime of killing my mother.

"Get up, darling. If you are going to be my soldier, you must learn to be emotionless even at a time of grief and pain. That is the way of Lady Winter's soldiers," she added, her eyes showing panic for a split second before it was back to her cold exterior. {REFERENCE, ANYBODY? .3.}

"Lady Winter?" I asked, a slight frown appearing on my face. "Who's that?"

She sighed. "I had to tell you sooner or later. Lady Winter's my name, doll."

{WARNING: BLOODY AND GORE-ISH SCENE. PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THAT KIND OF STUFF.}

I screamed as Lady Winter thrust her hand into the man's chest, pulling out a heart that was still beating. He stared straight ahead, mouth opening and closing without a sound. She crushed the heart, blood spurting everywhere. The man collapsed, blood dribbling out of his mouth,

I ran towards him, eyes wide with shock and fear as I saw his tortured face and my eyes trailed over to the hole in his chest. I looked away, bile rising in my throat as I saw all of the blood and the occasional organ.

{SHORT SCENE OVER.}

"W-why did you do that?" I gasped, my breath quickening with panic. "Why w-would you just kill a man for n-no reason?"

"Darling, that is the way of Lady Winter's soldiers," she said, reciting what she said earlier. "You must kill without hesitation if I order it. This is part of your training. You must become emotionless, even at a gruesome murder.

"Oh yes, I need to give you something special... Since you are going to be my human soldier, you need some supernatural skills, or else you'll not even be close to the skills of my most inexperienced servant." She smiled with a glint in her eye.

I didn't like that look. "Wait-"

A scream was all I heard as pain consumed my body. It burned as if somebody was branding me. It went on for at least an hour, making me feel so overwhelmed I stopped screaming after a while, knowing that it wouldn't help. The pain increased every second, and when it was about to end, the pain shot up so much that the previous ones wouldn't even compare. A bloodcurdling scream erupted from my chest, making me wish that this was all over so that I could join my mother in whatever world she was in.

The pain abruptly stopped, leaving me on the ground, panting heavily.

"Oh, you've passed the test that no other human has passed before, doll," Lady Winter said, twirling a black rose around her gloved hand. "You have been accepted by the spirit of the assassin. From now on, you are no longer just a mere soldier. You are now mine; Lady Winter's assassin."

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

IT'S DONE! I FINALLY WORKED ON IT, AHAHAHA! I was designing a new character and I suddenly had an idea for a new story, so I tweaked the storyline of this story. I am super excited for this! BAHAHAHA! Next chapter will have a time skip of a year, the time Lady Winter approves Sam and sends her back to school as the nerd she once was.

Also, all chapters will be at least 1000 words long. Unless I say in the author's note that I have writer's block or some excuse, you may bop me on the head with a rolled up newspaper if it is even one word less.
