My other half

Part 1

Hi, i'm Noely, here in Emercon, we are born with necklaces, each baby is born with a necklace, and just like any other necklace, it has a pendant. A pendant that is just the half of a unique shape, and somewhere in the world there is someone who has the other half, and that someone is your soulmate. These necklaces are not just plane boring ones, they are controled by some phenamenol power that no scientist could ever figure out. Scientists made experiences, gatherings, and all kind of stuff to know and understand the way the necklaces work but none of their hard work led to anything, except for one interesting information.

Everybody wants to find their true love and live happily ever after right ? But it's kind of hard to do that when the world population now is over a thousand trillions, and you can't just travel around the planet looking for your soulmate right ? Well those necklaces slightly help you.

After all of those scientifical experiences, scientists discovered a .. strategie ? Anyway, it goes like this :

The necklace gets warmer the closer you are to your soulmate, and colder the further away you were.

Weird huh ?

Wait till i get to MY story, that's what weird is. One hundred percent cent of babies are born with glacial necklaces, which means that they are as far as possible from their soulmates, which explains why when all of the teenagers reach 18 they travel around the world looking for their soulmate and so does he or she until they meet.

But .... I'm no ordinary girl, of course things are never normal for me, they never were ! When i was born the first one to hold me was my mother, the first thing she noticed was that the shape of my necklace was half of a puzzle piece ... and that it was not glacial, it was slightly warm, warm enough to feel its heat when you press it on your cheek or palm.

My mom was not sure what it meant first, being the only baby on Emercon to have a warm necklace was something abnormal, and people might mistake it for being something dangerous.

She would always slide the pendant inside my clothes and warn me not to let anyone touch it, i'm a good girl, i did not let anyone touch it.

As i grew up, i started making conclusions by myself, i consulted a sholiptisist too ( A sholiptisist is a person who studied the necklaces strategie ), it turns out that the answer was in the strategie from the beginning.

The necklace gets warmer the closer you are to your soulmate and colder the further away you were.

Yes ... Yes, we're both thinking about the same thing, yes you're right, yes my soulmate is somewhere near me.

Just imagine that the love of your life is somewhere around you, you probably already met him but you don't know who is it. It gives a feeling of fear, happiness, and stress, but it also gives the urge to look for him, the urge to look at everybody's necklace hoping that their shape is the other half of the puzzle piece.

I never did tho, you know, search for my soulmate .... not yet.

But you see, in Emercon, there are some rare cases, some are born with a full shape, not just the half, which means that they have no soulmate, and they are meant to live alone for the rest of their lives. And what happens often is that people break their necklaces by accident, and if you do, your kind of screwed, because how in the world will you prove to someone that your the love of their life if you don't have the other half ?

And to be honest, I'm kind of scared too, because you never know, you might be surprised to finally find your love and it turns out that she's a girl ... and you are a girl too, so maybe i'm lesbian ?
