(Three days later)
CLARA'S POV:
We resumed our normal routine, as if I had never ran away. My father was only mentioned a couple of times, just making sure that he hadn't shown up.
I went to bed early that night. I had been really tired lately, and because we had been staying up late watching Bates Motel the past two nights, I needed a bit more sleep.
...
I woke up and poured myself some cereal for breakfast. Dan was already up and dressed, and Phil was in the shower.
I waited for him to get out before I, myself, got ready as well."What are we doing today?" I asked when we were all sitting in the lounge. I was on the floor and Dan and Phil were on the couch.
"I don't know, we could-" Dan was cut off by a knock on the door, "Who's that?" He asked.
"Oh! It must be the landlord!" Phil said, "He said he's going around making sure no ones doing anything illegal."
"I'll get it." Dan signed as he got up to open the door.
It was quiet for a few seconds and then I saw Phil's eyes widen and he stood up to join Dan.
"What! What! Tell me!" I signed desperately, but Phil just told me to be quiet and stay where I was as he went to the door.
I sat for what seemed like a very long time until Dan and Phil came into the lounge followed by a man. He had a scraggy beard, and huge bags under his, what should be green eyes, but they looked so dead they could be gray. I lost my breath, recognizing him immediately.
"What is he doing here!" I signed angrily.
Why was my father doing here?
