Chapter 1

Running in the rain, you gritted your teeth. How could you be so late on your first day of school? And of course, you didn't have the time to get an umbrella, so you were now soaked from head to toe. Not paying attention to what's in front of you, you end up bumping into someone and falling into a puddle.

"Are you ok?" Asked a voice. You looked up to see a young boy, about your age, with shaggy black hair and vibrant orange eyes with small pupils. He wore a black hoodie, jeans, and sneakers and wore a mask over his mouth and nose. He, of course, had an umbrella with him and was now holding it over you while holding his hand out. His face seemed emotionless, but you could tell that he was concerned for your well being. You took his hand and smiled.

"Thank you, and I'm sorry for running into you," you said while looking down, embarrassed by your actions.

The boy nodded. "It's okay," he said. "It's not like I was the one falling into a puddle. So, anyways, what caused you to be running so recklessly in the rain."

"Well, it's because I'm late for..." Your words trail off. "School! I'm sorry sir, but I need to go!" You began to run again.

"Wait!" The boy called back. You stopped for a moment as he caught up to you. He handed you his umbrella and said, "Here, you take it. I don't need it."

"But-"

"It's fine," he said. "Now go."

You stop for a moment before smiling. "Thank you, sir!" You said as you ran off.

The boy waved back. "See ya..." He said before walking into the alleyway.
