"How long until the two of you end this inexorable courtship and wed one another?" Father grew tired of this; I could hear it in his voice. I could see it in his agitated movements.
I guess I could understand why he insisted on holding onto that single shred of hope. It's the kind of hope that could last a lifetime. One out of his four boys is in pursuit. Not to mention, his eldest refusing the idea of marrying someone of Father's choosing.
"I will admit that I did not see a clear future for the both of you but if she makes you happy then that is all that matters to me." He continued.
It's rather funny as I, Sebastian Demori held that belief, yet here we are – Sylvia and I sharing the same thoughts, being as content as ever. Yet all I can do is shake my head in dismissiveness, "We just had a wedding in the family – can we not pace ourselves?"
"That was two years ago!" Father exasperates, "Your cousin, Lyra, is now beginning preparations for her coronation with your Prince."
Father strides back and forth in front of me, maintaining his frantic panic but I knew that he was close to the edge. I cannot begin to imagine the type of pressure he is under now – but Alex is somehow following in James' footsteps, Alex is tending to Lyra's counsel which leaves me to be Father's golden child.
"I just-" I didn't know what words could replace the ones in my head.
Patience was Father's ultimate virtue, "Go on."
"I love her, and I know you know that but I do not know if she will ever love me as much as I love her." It sure was a tongue twister but that aside, I truly did not know if Sylvia was willing to meet me halfway.
A respected man such as myself should not be put in this kind of position because I am willing to put in that much effort if I just know that she is as well. But if there were any possibility that Sylvia did not feel the same way – I would not know what to do with myself.
"You do not know how to go about this." Father simply put, understanding the ferocity of my feelings.
"Yes." I confirm just as much.
"My son – you are going about this the wrong way." The slightest noise of confidence and absolution rung through, "It might be immoral to do this but I see it as the only way it you ever want to know."
My Father's a man of vision and solutions, my Uncle included and no matter how many times I bare witness this miraculous panorama – I can not help but aspire to be them. And be more. Immoral or not – I will try it. I know what I feel and I am certain she feels the same way. If only she can say it. If only in a small amount of words then that will be enough validation for me and only me. But keeping her silence it what worries me the most.
"You will help me?"
Certainty echoes in each of Father's words, "Of course I will."
