"Ouch!" My grandpa screamed. I stared at the nurse. "Just a bit... Done!" The nurse prepared all the infusions. "Thank God.." My grandpa said. "You're all set now." The nurse said. She looked in some papers that where near the bed. "Surgery tomorrow huh?" She joked. "Yeah... I'm happy if i can leave this place." "It isn't that bad isn't it?" The nurse laughed. "Are you kidding me? This place is the worst.." My grandpa said. "You will get better dad, don't be so negative." My mom said. My grandpa isn't the only one who has bad and negative opinions and thoughts about the hospital. So do i... I have scoliosis and a small problem with my heart. I got a treatment for my scoliosis though, after 2 years of hearing, when someone touches you, "What is that?!" and people thinking i was weird and a freak, i was cured. Although, that's what they said. I still worry about it. They said if it would get dangerous again, they have to do surgery. And well, there are a lot of risks then... Anyhow my name is Skyler Smith. I'm telling you my story in the hospital.
"Urgh, i'm getting backpain again.." My grandpa said. "Don't worry, tomorrow the pain will be gone dad." My mom smiled. "For now i will give you some painkillers, so the pain will be less heavier." The nurse said. "Thanks.." My grandpa sighed." The nurse placed a infusion with medical stuff in it. It started to drop and drop and drop... "You might get tired soon. The painkillers are a bit heavy..." "Heavier than this place? Wow, can't wait.." My grandpa sighed. "Dad c'mon.. Sorry he doesn't really love hospitals..." "So do i.." I thought. "Oh why? We are curing you!"The nurse asked. "Thanks to you, my wife died here, you were never there when she needed you! What a service." Dad!" My mom yelled. "Sorry he's talking to you like that.." My mom apologized. "I'm very sorry that your wife died,sir... We did everything we could. She was an awesome woman who didn't deserve it." The nurse said. "Yeah you can tell! She WAS an awesome woman.." My grandpa started to sob. My grandma died almost 2 years ago and my grandpa can't stop missing her. Since then, he changed. He was so strong and now he's just a crybaby. I've seen his smile changing into a millions of tears. Tears full of sadness. My grandma was an awesome woman who loved everyone but was stubborn sometimes. She would smile through the pain. She was an outgoing and social person. She went through a lot. I also miss her a lot...
I stared at my grandpa who cried. I started to think about the hospital, this goddamn place. Full of pain and yet happiness. Full of worries and filled with so many faces. Old faces and new faces. Doctors, nurses, visitoirs and patients everywhere. And also a dirty feeling even though it's clean there. Horrible and standard food. Beds where people have slept in, dreamed in,born in, died in. A place of hope and despair. Weird, right?
My mom hugged grandpa. My mom started to sob. "She wants you to be okay." My mom said. "I know..." My grandpa cried. "It will be okay grandpa, the pain will be gone soon." I said. "I hope so sweetie.." My grandpa said. My stomach growled. I put my hand on it.My mom looked with wide eyes. "You wanna get a sandwhich at the cafetaria?" My mom smiled. "Uhm.. Yes if that's okay." I said. My mom searched her purse for money. "Here you are. Get some water bottles too for grandpa okay?" My mom handed me the money. "Sure." I said. I walked out of the room and looked at the room across us. I saw a boy looking forward. He had long blonde hair and dark eyes i guess. I couldn't really see it though. He wore a white T-shirt and a black jeans with some all stars shoes. I heard some people talk and laugh before i walked through the hall.
I walked out of the hall, two doors opened automatic. The doors cracked a bit. I walked towards the elevator and pressed the button. A loud "ping" filled the room. People came out of it and when they came out the doors closed before i even could get in. I was a bit pissed off and took the stairs instead. It was 1 floor so it wasn't so bad. I walked into a big room where the cafetaria and entrance hall where. I saw people talking to the receptionist, patients who were just walking around and visitoirs with presents. I walked towards the cafetaria and saw people eating and smoking in the smoking room. I stared at the board with sandwhiches. A sandwhich with cheese should be fine i thought. I grabbed a drink before i went to the cash desk. "A lemonade, that's 2 dollars then." The woman said. She looked really grumpy and tired. She looked like she didn't gave a fuck about anything. "Uhm.. Can i get a sandwhich with cheese please?" I asked. "Sure that's 6 dollars." "Here" I said. " Thank you. Madeline can you make a sandwhich with cheese please?!" The woman yelled. While waiting i looked at the presents and money you could buy there. "So sad those presents can't help you" I thought. The candy looked alright. Some candy reminded me of when i was a kid. I bought these when my grandma was at the hospital. I smiled when i heard the woman say: " A sandwhich with cheese, here you are" She said. "Oh yeah, thank you." I said and walked out. I walked to the automats with water in it and bought some bottles for grandpa. I walked towards the stairs and went to the first floor. I walked through the automatical doors and walked into the hall. I went to the right when i bumped into a boy with long blonde hair...
