I noticed that Rider wasn't back yet but i walked the room in again. I placed the sandwiches on the table and sat down. I checked my phone while waiting. Some messages from my mom, dad and some friends. I was too tired to text back. I tried to sleep a bit but i couldn't. I was waiting with fear. 7.45 am... Would it really take so long? Did the surgery help or not? I played with my sleeves. "I understand, doctor" I heard Rider say. He walked into the room, his face didn't show any emotion. "Well?" I asked nervously. "The surgery went like it should be. But they have to see how she will react on it." "React?" "Yeah, they are trying a new strategy. New medicines, new chemo... For now, she's reacting well." "That's good!" I smiled. "It is, i hope it will work" He was nervous. "Ofcourse it will." I smiled at him. He gave me a weak smile and looked at the table. "What is that?" "Sandwiches." "Oh my god, no. How could you do this to me?! Do you wanna poison me?" He laughed. "Don't worry, these are 'new'." "How are you so sure these sandwiches are better?" "An old woman told me to get these sandwiches." "Huh?" He frowned his eyebrows. "Nevermind. Just try it, you haven't eaten anything since you woke up." "Alright , alright, gosh worried freak." He rolled his eyes. We sat down a little table and started eating. "No idea who this woman is, but she's a lifesaver. This is a really good sanwich!" Rider said. "It is." I laughed. We finished our sanwiches and cleaned up. "Thank you for taking care of me." Rider smiled. "You know i'm always there right?" I smiled. "Ofcourse i do." He kissed my forehead. "What do you think? Wanna sleep? I'm exhausted..." Rider asked. "Yeah, i wanted to sleep but i couldn't sleep." "Ofcourse you can't sleep without me dummie." He laughed. "Really funny" I rolled my eyes. "Okay, maybe it's true" I said. "Duhhh!" He joked. We layed down on the couch. "You can't sleep without your hood on your head." I smiled. "Urgh.. I'm too tired to put it on me." "Hold on." While i put his hood on his head, i felt his long soft hair tickling my hand. He looked at me with his dark brown eyes. "Gosh, i love you so much." He said with half closed eyes. I smiled. "I love you too, Rider." Rider wrapped his arms around me and kissed my forehead.

After some hours, we woke up by the sound of a rolling bed coming into the room. "Mom!" Rider yelled. We stood up and Rider hugged his mom. "Hi sweetie..." His mom said weakly. "Rider, can i have a minute with you? I wanna discuss something." "Can it later?" "Just a minute" "Alright" Rider looked at me. "Take care of her while i'm gone" "I promise" He smiled and kissed my forehead quickly. "Hmm, you must be the girl Rider was talking about..." His mom said. "Uhm, yeah. Nice to finally meet you!" I smiled. "You're really beautiful. No wonder Rider was constantly talking about you!" "Wow uhm ,thank you! So are you!" "Really? I'm covered with cancer, can't you see?" She laughed. "Why would i care about that? It doesn't make you uglier, it makes you more beautiful and stronger. At this moment, you're growing." "So inspiritual..." "I mean it. You're beautiful, just like Rider. I can see where the genes come from" I laughed. "Ha! Well thank you Skyler!" It was weird that she knew my name but just like his mom said, Rider talked about me so she must knew. "You're welcome, miss ...?" "Oh, please call me Grace." She said. "Okay,Grace. How are you feeling?" "Exhausted and tired. But i'm happy the new chemo is working for now." "I can believe that! You've must been through a lot..." "Yeah, long story..." I wanted to tell her about what Rider said. You know, how he has to survive and stuff. But i thought that was kinda rude. "Helloooo" Rider said happily. "Why are you so happy?" His mom laughed. "I'm just happy you're okay, mom." Rider smiled.

"Alright then..." His mom laughed. She has been through a lot and yet she is laughing all the time. She reminded me of my grandma somehow. "I see you met Skyler." Rider said. He looked nervous, he wanted to know her opinion on me. Then i thought about it and started to get nervous. I played with my hands. "I have." She said. "Sooooo... What do you think...?" His mom started laughing. I got super nervous, i felt myself glowing. It felt  like you are being judged. Rider looked confused. "Why are you laughing...?" "Rider, you are my son. I love you and i know who is good for you and who isn't. I think you know that now." "Yeah... I do bu-" "Do you really think she's the one?" I started to have a break down. I thaught she liked me but when i heard that question, i felt myself melting away. "What?" Rider still looked confused. "Well?" Rider's mom said. "What kind of question is that? You know i love her, mom. She helped me through everything. She was the only one who was there for me when no one was. And if you don't like her then i don't care. I really love her. This person makes me happy since a long time ago..." Rider said quite angry. "Rider,it's oka-" I said. "No, no, it isn't. I love you, goddamn it. When we losed contact for a few days, i felt so lost. I realised, i was losing my support, my lifesaver, my source of happiness... The love of my life... I knew you were the right one since i saw you." Rider's voice cracked. He was almost crying. "I love you, mom. I know you wanna protect me. But if you think this girl is not right for me, you're wrong." Rider holded my hand and stared at his mom...
