I stood there angry, almost raging through the lab. "How the hell did I get here, I don't even know my name," I said. "One second, I'm asleep dreaming and the next I'm here and don't remember my own name!" I yelled. I could feel the flames surround my hand. "And what the hell is this?" I asked as the flames intensified. Someone wearing a suit was holding my flaming fist. "Calm down, we'll explain everything in a minute," he said. "Just calm down," he said. I started breathing a little heavier. The man holding my fist jammed a needle in my neck. It had to be a tranquilizer of some sort, because I was feeling woozy. I fell to the cold hard floor. I felt the flames on my hands go out. I woke up in a white room. I had some kind of device on my foot. I wanted to see if the fire I had on my fists earlier was a normal thing. I tried to focus to see what I could do. I couldn't even get a spark. A door opened and a few people walked in the room in front of me. "Hi, no reason to be startled we're just running some tests," one of them said. "We had to take all your memory for your own safety," he said. "But what I can tell you is who you are," he said. "You're name is Avry, you're 25 years old," he said. "You're in a facility for people like you in West Virginia," he said. "From what we know you have the power to manipulate fire, and heat," he said. "But something went wrong while we were getting you here," he said. "Where were you getting me from?" I asked. "Uh....you're from another uh...." he said like he was trying to make it sound less complicated. "You're from an alternate world," he said. "Impossible," I said. "In the world you were in, no one knew about people with abilities," he said. "You and everyone you knew were hiding your abilities," he said. "In this world people already found out, and we use it to advance our technology," he said. "Well then what's the problem?" I asked. "The transfer from your world back to ours altered your ability," he said. "But I still have flames," I said. I was confused on what was wrong. "Sure your flames still work, but your DNA is saying otherwise," he said. "If we run a few more blood test we'll know what your power is," he said. They walked me through a hallway and showed me other people like me. After all that they took some of my blood to run some tests on it. The man who told me who I am and where I'm from walked up to me. "The test results should come in some time tomorrow," he said. "Until then, you need to stay in your room," he said. "Why can't I just look around this place?" I asked. "Hey, I don't make the rules, I just follow them," he said. I sat in the room for hours. No one came in the room. No one told me anything. I sat there in silence. I looked in one of the mirrors. I took my shirt off. I had a tattoo on my chest. I didn't know what it was. I sat and looked at it for a minute. BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Some kind of alarm was going off. "The hell is that?" I asked myself. "We are now on lockdown, all employees find cover," the man on the intercom said. I just went and a at back down. I wasn't worried about anything. I had no friend a or family to worry about. Just myself. I only had my own thoughts to listen to. I heard my door open behind me. I heard it close back not long after. Then it opened and closed again. I looked back and there stood a dark skin man with glasses. He was wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. He couldn't have been one of the scientists, he would have had a uniform. He was panting. I stared at him for a minute. "You gonna snitch?" he asked as he looked up at me. "For what?" I asked. "Running," he said. "Why did you need to run?" I asked. "To get away," he said. He looked at what I was wearing. My clothes were burnt and tore. It looked like I got in a fight with a tiger. "You must be new here," he said. "My name is Jabrel," he said. "They told me my name is Avry," I said. He held out his hand waiting for me to shake his hand. I shook his hand with a tight grip. "Yeah, they tell you your name, age, and where your from most times," he said. "So what's your power?" he asked. I guess it's normal for people to talk about it. "It was fire at first, then they told me it might be something else, something that includes fire," I said. "Well," he said and sat next to me. "I would show you mine but these rooms are somehow able to suppress abilities," he said. That's why I couldn't get a spark earlier. "Anyways I was running to try and get to the city with my sister," he said. "Why isn't she with you?" I asked. "She's finding some source of water," he said. "Why?" I asked. "So she can travel through, her ability deals with water," he said. "You seem cool, I'm willing to get you out of here with us if you want," he said. I thought about it for a second. I didn't have anything better to do. And it seemed like I finally had a friend. I wasn't gonna just loose that opportunity. "Yeah," I said. He managed to get the door open. We started running through a hallway. Guards started coming towards us. Jabrel managed to send them flying. "Oh yeah, by the way, my ability is telekinesis," he said while sending another person flying. Guards started to come from behind and he went to deal with them. While I cleared a path to the exit. Their were two guards with tasers and batons. I set my hands on fire. I shot fire at both of them. Their suits must have been fire resistant because they walked right through it. One of them was coming at me with a baton. I wished Jabrel was done back there so he could help. The guard swung the baton. It froze right before hitting my face. I grabbed the baton and whacked the guard in the head with it. I did the same to the other. By that time Jabrel dealt with the other guards. "Thanks for the save back there," I said as we ran for an exit. "What save?" he asked. I was for sure Jabrel stopped that baton, it wasn't me. We ran out the exit door quickly. We only made it a few feet and the device on my foot zapped me. It held me there until guards grabbed both me and Jabrel.
