also I wrote this at 3AM—
I smile to myself as I'm packing.
Usually I hate packing. It's stressful trying to figure out how many outfits you need, what you need to fit the weather conditions, and it doesn't even matter because you always end up overpacking and/or forgetting something. But that doesn't matter today. I could forgot to bring pants and the weekend would still be perfect.
I'm going to stay at a cabin with my 7 best friends. They are part of a collab channel on YouTube called SDK. They are absolute goofballs and do the craziest shit, but I love them for it. They will do anything to make people laugh.
I'm particularly close Nick, his twin brother Adam, and their friend Nolan who they post videos on another channel with. I first met the twins at a park. I was walking my dog, and I wasn't really paying attention because I was memorized by the beauty of this park, and my dog decided run away from me. I didn't have a very good grip on his leash and I was almost knocked over as he charged right at Nick. Adam saw the whole thing happen and was cracking up, while Nick began to play with my dog. We've been friends ever since, despite the age difference.
Speaking of age, the whole reason we're staying at a cabin is to celebrate my 18th birthday. The twins surprised me with the idea because they know I love camping.
"HONEY, I'M HOME!" I hear a voice shout inside of my apartment.
"In here!" I call, knowing its Nick since he texted me earlier telling me he was picking me up.
"You ready?" He asks leaning against the doorframe.
"Hell yes!" I say grabbing my duffle. Nick immediately grabs it from me and leads the way out.
I try to ignore the butterflies in my stomach I felt when our hands brushed together.
"So, we have a slight problem." Nick says after he put my stuff in his trunk.
I raise my eyebrows. "Oh?"
"Ryan's bringing a friend. Some random dude I've only met a couple of times. He's alright but it's your birthday weekend and I don't want it to be ru—"
"Nick," I interrupt. "It's okay."
"Yeah?"
"Yes!" I laugh. "I'm fine as long as I'm with you."
I'll never forget the smile that was on his face.

"Alright, I spy with my little eye..." I search around us. "something green!"
"The grass."
"Okay, well we're kind of in the middle of nowhere!" I huff.
"Chip me," He announces opening his mouth.
I get out a single potato chip out of the bag and throw it into his mouth. He catches it without taking his eyes off the road.
It may seem impressive now but we've been in the car for a couple of hours with 5 bags of potato chips. You do the math.
"Okay, new game." I say.
