Step Four: Survive a night with the enemy

"Yeah, they actually work for the Thomsons Corporation, I don't know if you've heard of them," I ask, picking at my food.

Samuel's parents both simultaneously look at each with large grins.

"No way, I knew your surname sounded familiar, you're Tom and Sophie's daughter aren't you?," smiled Samuel's dad.

I nodded quickly, confused at how they knew my parents.

"Oh wow, it's a small world, we actually went to high school with both of your parents and only recently met them again, when they both started working on the security of our company's network," laughed Sandra.

I was too shocked to even speak so I grabbed a bunch of garlic bread and shoved it in my mouth.

Everyone stared as I tried to swallow the dry bread in astonishment. Choking on the crumbs that went down the wrong tube.

"Must be starving you at your house," laughed Marcus. Following by a grunt, and a look from Sandra.

"We have some leftovers in the fridge, you can take them home if you want,"said Samuel's mum.

Oh no no no I've messed up.

Couldn't you control your nervous tendencies? I yell at myself.

"Oh no I'm thank you, just love love love garlic bread," I mutter nervously.

From the corner of my eye I could see Samuel smirking at me embarrassing myself.

I immediately glared at him and attempt to change the subject.

"Sooooo, what do you two do at the company, secretary, manager, CEO, maybe,"I ask.

With that Samuel's father starts smiling.

"Oh, we own it-,"He smiled.

"With hopes that Samuel takes over the family business after high school,"he paused for a second before continuing.

"-only if he can actually finish high school".

The room went silent after that. The tension between Samuel and his dad almost deafening. I heard Sandra mutter something under her breath to her husband. But it was too late Samuel was already triggered by the his father's last sentence.

"Oh come on dad why don't you carry on telling everyone, how much of a complete disappointment I am," He yelled, throwing his chair across the room.

"Now please Samuel calm down so we can enjoy the rest of our meal,"Spoke Sandra, calmly, glancing back at me.

"Shut up Sandra, you're no better. Why don't you go steal someone else's husband," Spat Samuel.

Me and my big mouth. I should have never asked what they did.

"How dare you speak to your mother in that way, do you have no heart," Screamed Samuel's father.

"Mother-," laughed Samuel.

"My mother is dead as well as my heart, you destroyed them both," Scowled Samuel.

"Ok I think this is my que to leave" I thought to myself.

"GET OUT-," Spat Samuel's dad.

"NOW!".

I could hear Kelly crying loudly in the background as well as Sandra hiccupping.

"Dad please calm down," reasoned Josh.

"Why should I if he wants to act like a thug and waste his education and life why should he sleep here in MY house ?".
