The Pirate's Mermaid. A Marichat and Ladynoir fanfic

Chapter One* Caught

"Come on, Tikki!" Marinette yelled as she swam ahead of the little fish. She wanted to go to her secret refuge from the other mermaids, so she had to swim fast so they can't follow her. "I'm coming, I'm coming!" Tikki yelled back swimming as fast as she could go. "I'm ten times smaller than you at least so of course you're swimming faster than me!" Tikki was a small red and black spotted fish and also Marinettes only friend. "Fine, I'll go slower." She said replied. Marinette was a strange mermaid, and so was always picked on by the other "normal" mermaids. For one thing, she has jewel-like scales covering part of her face looking as if she was always wearing a mask. Another is that instead of having the normal two-finned single color Tail, she has four fins and a mostly black tail that had a bunch of red scales near her waist, a couple of red dots, and a line of white near the bottom of her fins that turns to red. ( A/N if you want an image of her look at the picture at the top of this chapter)

The daughter of the ruler of her town, Chloe, and her servant Sabrina teased her the most out of everyone. They forced her to live on the very outskirts of town since she was an orphan and nobody liked her. This is why when she found a cave about a mile from town, she made it her refuge.

She has almost made it there when a shadow passed over her. She looked up to see a boat sailing by. Then she heard Tikki scream out her name as she felt a net closing around her and pulling her to the surface. She struggled to get free but then she rose above the water line and saw humans staring at her in shock. Then, a man who was probably the captain called out to his men, " Alright Miraculous', pull her in and put her in a barrel of water. Now!" The stress and the scare off getting caught must have caught up to her then, and she blacked out.

Adrien had been having a pretty bad day so far. For one thing, his curse had been acting up more than usual, and his inner Chat was getting out. To this day he still could not understand why Hawkmoth had cursed him with this, all it did was make people even more scared of him which he was supposed to do as a pirate anyway. The curse had given him a tail, cat ears, which you couldn't see unless he took his hat off which he never did, strange cat-like eyes, and cat-like tendencies. He blew his messy blond hair out of his face, and tied his mask on. No one in his crew knew what he looked like without the mask, but not many people in his crew wanted to know anyways. He fingered the hat his mother have him, the hat that was her last gift to him before she died. He could still remember the day he told her he wanted to run away and when she gave him the gift with a note. Slowly, he closed his eyes as he remembered that day..........

Flashback...

Adrien ran to his bedroom crying. HIs father had just yelled at him and even slapped him just because he accidently slipped into some mud and got his clothes dirty. As the 8-year old lay on his bed crying, he heard soft footsteps come over to his bed. It was his mother, who had heard his father yelling at him and came in to see if her son was alright. As soon as she sat down beside him he jumped into her arms. Then he stared telling her what he wanted to do. " When I'm older I'm going to run far away from here and become a pirate." He told her starting to calm down. His mother smiled down at him softly. "That's a great idea kitten." She told him. " You really think so? "he asked. "Of course. You do whatever you think needs to happen when the time comes. Alright?" "Okay mother, I will, I promise." "Alright then, you should probably go to sleep then. Goodnight kitten.: Goodnight mother." End Flashback.

He could almost hear telling him goodnight and calling him kitten again. That was part of the reason he chose the name Chat Noir, So that part of him could always be her little kitten. Of course, whenever this certain memory comes to his mind, another comes up also.

Flashback...

A few days after he told his mother his dream, she came down with a very violent sickness that had no cure. On her last day alive, she called her son over. Next to her was a box and with it was an envelope with the words ' Open when the time is right. You will know when kitten.' As he came over to her crying, she gave it to him. "What is it?" he asked. To which she replied, " Not yet kitten...cough...cough...when the time is right you can open it." He was crying even harder now. "I love you mommy!" he told her. She looked a tad surprised since his father had told him to stop calling her that a few years ago. Then she smiled softly and said " I love you to kitten...Goodbye" And then she took her final breath. "Mommy...? Mommy please wake up! MOMMY!" he yelled. The adults in the room shoved the box into his hands and told him to go to his room. That night he cried himself to sleep.

Ten years later...

He was finally going to do it, finally going to do what he told his mother he would do ten years ago. He was running away and becoming a pirate. As he was packing some things he would need, he found a dusty old box in the back of his closet. As he read the envelope attached to it he realized it was the present his mother gave him the day she died. He thought that now was finally the right time and when he opened the envelope it read 'My little kitten, it saddens me that I must leave your life so soon and with your father being so cruel, but I have no choice in the matter. As I write this I am slowly becoming sicker and in more pain but I shall give you this last piece of me. I hope you like it. Once you told me your dream I immediately had this made just for you. I shall miss you so much. I'm so sorry I couldn't help you finish your dream, but this might just help you. I know you will be great. I love you my little pirate, Love Mommy.'

He opened the box with tears in his eyes and saw a hat. Not just any hat, but a beautiful black and gold pirate captain hat with a ruby red feather in it. Softly he whispered " Thank you mom, it's perfect."

End of Flashback

His cat ,Plagg, woke him up from his trip down memory lane. For a pirate cat he sure was fat. Probably all that camembert he ate. He rubbed his midnight black fur on Adrien's leg and looked at him with hungry green eyes. He then heard some strange gasps and mumbling from his crew with his sensitive hearing and walked out on deck. What he saw was pretty strange. It looked like when the men went fishing for some food, they had caught a mermaid instead. She was very pretty despite the fear in those very blue eyes, they were as blue as the heavens themselves. Her dark black hair that was almost blue in certain lights was hanging limply in her face. He wanted to run his hands through it and fix it up. He yelled to the crew, " Alright Miraculous', pull her in and put her in a barrel of water. Now!" As soon as he shouted those last words, her eyelids closed over those sky blue eyes. He figured she had fainted and was worried. He then remembered that strange glass made room in his quarters. He realized if he filled it with water it would make a perfect place to put her. Soon enough the room was filled and a few comforts were added and she was put in there. As he stared at her, one thought passed through his head. ' She is mine and only mine. No one will touch or see her again'
