I wonder how he survived this long with all those men to feed. I started thinking, it was honestly baffling.
"It's almost lunch, I'm sure you're probably hungry." Red looked at me with what was probably genuine concern.
I snorted a bit but did finally answer, "just a bit, been craving this new cereal I've been finding around."
Anything to make my brother laugh seems worth it, to me.
"Sabrina, have you found a group yet? Or anyone at all?" Red looked at me, we were eating lunch in silence when he suddenly spoke.
I looked at him with confusion at the sudden interest, "No, why?"
"I was hoping you'd say that," Red sounded relieved, which was worrying. "There are terrible people I've met a few times now, and they won't leave me and my men alone."
"Why not?" I ask with interest. Why would anyone be against something that honestly seems pretty organised.
"They're selfish and think their way of surviving is better, moving around rather than staying in one place."
I nod along, even when he excused himself and left to the stairs with a small group of people, people who held guns.
When Red hadn't returned for a while afterward, and the small group of people did, I was admittedly worried.
"Hey, Roy, wasn't it?" I walked up to one of the people who had come back, sitting down at the same table he was.
"You're Red's sister, aren't you?" The other ginger frowned, leaning into the table. "He used to talk about his big sister chef quite a bit, and how he left her when the apocalypse began."
Is there really any way to respond to something like that? If there was, I didn't know.
"Well about my brother, do you know where he is?" I ask.
"We had to leave him above, there was a group of people and we lost sight of him." Roy huffed, obviously not happy with how the encounter went. "We thought he'd be back by now."
"Well he's not," I sighed, then got up. "I'm going to look for him."
"Good luck honey, something doesn't feel right though."
I nod and run up the stairs.
I ran, trying to look for Red to hopefully get an explanation. Instead, I saw Red walking around with a bullet wound in the leg.
I'm going to kill him, slowly. He better explain.
"Well, hey sis." Red smiled weakly, part of me wondering how the hell he was walking around so easily.
"Come on, let's go back so I can get the bullet out because I am going to interrogate you like hell." I half joked as I helped my brother move towards the base.
Once I found some medical looking room, I put Red in a chair and took some medical kits.
"What happened back there?" I groaned, trying to carefully take the bullet out.
"The group I told you about earlier? They showed up here and I got shot." Red nervously chuckled, he was obviously paying close attention to what I was doing.
"Yeah yeah, I will be hearing all about them and what went down today later." I say as I finish wrapping his leg.
Edit: I want the sweet release of death after editing this monster of a chapter.
