Chapter 1

Celeste was jerked awake by the sound of her mom's call. At first she didn't know why her mom would wake her up so early. Then she remembered: today was their trip to Disney Land! Celeste Begal hopped out of bed and ran to her closet to find her suitcase. She dug through all her purses and bags and found her pink sparkly suitcase at the very bottom of the pile.

Celeste dragged her suitcase to the middle of the the room, and scattered around the house to find things she wanted to pack. " Let's see here...I'll pack my makeup...my eyeshadow, lipstick, eyeliner, blush, mascara and my lip liner." Then she plopped back on her bed. She couldn't decide what stuffed animal to pick. When her mom called her again Celeste just grabbed a pink stuffed cat she got in Tennessee.

Celeste hurried and packed all of her clothes: she packed her cream colored shirt with ruffles that comes with sparkly purple jeans and an indigo hat, she packed her gray long-sleeved shirt with a sparkly purple scarf and jeans, she packed her pajamas, her bathing suit, and a coat.

Celeste ran down the stairs letting her suitcase thump against each step making a very loud noise. She saw Mrs. Begal gathering all of her things in the living room. She had a confused expression on her face when she saw Celeste. " You know we're only going for the weekend." Celeste nodded and her mother sighed, " There's scones on the table. Hurry up, we leave in thirty minutes!!" Celeste left her suitcase and sat in her chair she always sat in when she ate meals. She licked her lips as she saw the chocolate chip scones. Chocolate chip scones have been her favorite since she was little. She ate almost all of them when her sister called to her, " Hey!! Save some for me!!" Celeste rolled her eyes as she shifted the bowl of scones to where her sister was going to sit.

Celeste hated her sister Joy. Joy would always cause trouble and blame it on Celeste. A few weeks ago Joy said a bad word in front of her parents and said that Celeste taught her to say it. Celeste had tried to explain that Joy was being a lier, but Celeste ended up spending the rest of the day in her room. Celeste remembered the horrible sneer that Joy gave her as she was walking up to her room.

Mrs. Begal put her hands on her hips as her dad walked down the stairs, still in his pajamas. She said, " What are you doing? We leave in 25 minutes!!" Celeste's dad groaned, " I'm sorry, I had to stay up late paying bills, I just need to get a cup of coffee and then I'll get ready." He slowly walked over to the coffee maker. Celeste turned to face him. " Can I have some coffee?" Her dad shrugged, " Why not?" Mrs. Begal shot a shocked look at Mr. Begal, " Harold!" He laughed, " What? She's gonna be old enough to have it sooner or later!" He grabbed another cup from a cabinet and poured coffee in it. He handed it to Celeste. " This is only a special treat, you can't have this every morning!" Celeste nodded and took the cup from him.

She sighed as she smelled the wonderful smell of coffee beans. She closed her eyes and took a sip. As she swallowed, she wrinkled her nose. It was very strong, much stronger than her mom had told her it was. Joy snickered and tried to hide her smile " How is it?" Celeste didn't want Joy making fun of her disliking the coffee, so even though she despised it more than anything, she drank the whole cup. Celeste finally replied to Joy's question, " It is really good, but definitly not how I thought it would be." Joy narrowed her eyes at Celeste. Mrs. Begal walked over to them, " Isn't it about time you two got dressed?" Celeste looked down. She hadn't realized that she was still in her pajamas. She quickly got out of her chair and ran upstairs to her room.
