Every week, I post about the podcasts that I find interesting but @mittasw made me realise that I should put them here as well, for posterity. This page is all about the craft, so the random things on business/random interesting podcasts won't make it here.

Do let me know if you're listening to something really awesome that I haven't listed!

The Creative Penn

The Creative Penn is a fantastic resource. There's a lot of stuff on marketing, but there are also great episodes on craft. I recommend:

- How to Banish Writer's Block (http://www.thecreativepenn.com/2016/06/20/writers-block-km-weiland/)

- Writing Emotion (http://www.thecreativepenn.com/2016/05/09/writing-emotion-cj-lyons/)

Rocking Self-Publishing

Like the name suggests, it's more on self-publishing, but there are craft episodes too! I like:

- Immerse or Die (http://rockingselfpublishing.com/jeffersonsmith/)

- Effective Editing (http://rockingselfpublishing.com/episode-12-effective-editing-harry-dewulf/) - This is less about actually editing and more about the different types of editing. It's worth a listen if you're thinking of hiring an editor - it'll help you know what sort of editor to look out for!

Writership

The Writership podcast takes five pages of a novel and edits/critiques it. They are incredibly helpful, and kind about it, so if you're feeling brave, you should definitely submit to them. I've done it twice, and both times, they pointed out things that I didn't notice (even after getting feedback), and which really helped improve my writing.

I don't have any particular episode to recommend, but they do mention the genre of each book in the podcast title, and it might be helpful to listen to critiques of book in your genre (and out of it too, since some mistakes are universal)

Word Essential 60 second tips

These are definitely longer than 60 seconds, but they're still shorter than most podcasts! If you're looking for a quick craft lesson/refresher, do check out Alida Winterheimer's video series, which you can find at her blog

(Note: I have hired Alida as a developmental Editor for a novella I wrote, and I think she's amazing, but I'm just putting this here because it's helpful to me and, I hope, to you)
