The weather outside the library was rainy and bitter - a typical English day in the middle of November, but I chose to ignore that as I snuggled into the worn, black sofa and concentrated on the words on the page. I soon became engulfed in my book and didn't notice the people around me or the empty space next to me where previously an old man was sat reading the daily paper. I nearly missed the low, soft voice that was talking to me.
"Hmm?? Sorry, were you talking to me?" I asked as I looked up into the blue eyes of the boy stood in front of me.
"Yeah, who else would I have been talking to baring in mind its empty in here!?" He said jokingly. I looked around and discovered he was right. The 30 odd people that had been in the library had now gone and the only people here were 2 members of staff, the boy in front of me and myself.
"Haha, I was like that when I was reading Divergent..." the boy said, referring to the book I had in my hands.
"You've read Divergent?" I asked.
"Yep. It's one of my favourite books, actually. Who's your favourite character?"
"Yeah, same and I think I'd have to say Uriah because he's kind, loyal and quite flirty" I replied, sitting up from the curled position I had been in.
"Not many people say Uriah. Normally Tris or Four... I'm Asa by the way."
"I know who you are - I've seen the films you've been in. Why are you talking to someone like me anyway? You're famous..." I asked.
"Well if you're presuming I'm one of those self absorbed actors who think they can have whatever they want and look down their nose at normal people, then you're completely wrong." He responded defensively.
"Besides, why wouldn't I speak to some pretty girl with her head stuck in one of my favourite books?" Asa added.
"Wait, what. You think I'm pretty?" I stammered, feeling my cheeks burn.
"Mhmm."
"Umm... I disagree with you but ok. I'm Favel." I said, not really knowing how to reply without completely embarrassing myself.
"I've never met or heard of anyone called Favel."
"Well I've never met or heard of anyone called Asa!" I retorted teasingly.
"Tu shay..." Asa laughed. I looked out of the window and noticed it had gotten dark enough for the street lamps to come on and reflect off the damp ground where it had been raining.
"Listen, I'm only in Woodley for a week and I don't know if I'm gonna be free any other days... Do you errmm... Maybe want to do something now?" Asa asked, staring contently at me with his big, blue eyes.
I looked at my watch and was surprised to find it was only 4pm even though it looked much later outside due to the weather and darkness.
"Um, yeah. Sure. My mum isn't expecting me home til later anyway so I've got time. What did you have in mind?" I responded.
Asa scratched the back of his head comically as he thought of something we could do.
"Well, I haven't really been in Woodley before and don't know where I'm going," Asa began, "so I was thinking you might know somewhere that does coffee or something?"
I knew the perfect place.
"I know a really good coffee shop if you're willing to get the bus?" I asked.
"Yeah that's fine." He said happily.
"Cool! Lets go then." I said as I grabbed the sleeve of his jumper and dragged him to the doors. "Oh... You might want to put a coat on..." I added, referring to the weather outside.
"I only have an umbrella but it'll do. I don't mind getting rained on once in a while!" Asa replied, smiling at me.
