Chapter 2
" I see that you two have already met each other.”, said the owner of the house, who had sneaked up on them. “How are you, Amy? It's good to see you again. You haven't aged a day.”
She laughed and kissed his cheek. “Always the charmer, Stewart Beckett. Feel free to keep the compliments coming. Thank you for the invitation. Only for an old friend would I venture out to a formal party.”
Eyes twinkling and flashing his famous smirk, he chuckled and said: “You are still as quick witted and beautiful as always, my friend. Has my brother been behaving himself?”
“Of course I have but I haven't introduced myself yet!”
Then let me do the honors: “Amy Winters, this is my big brother Mitchell. He is a force of nature, but a true gentleman at heart.”
“I like your name, Amy.”, he said, kissing the hand she had offered.
“Pleased to meet you, Mitchell. I heard much about you back in my college days. Your brother here is quite fond of you.”
“I know he is, and the feeling is mutual...but let's keep it between us, Amy. We wouldn't want word to get out that we are not truly ruthless businessmen who should be feared by our competitors.”
“You can trust Amy with your life, Mitchell. She would never betray a friend.”
“Good to know. The lady and I were about to find a place in which to share this bottle of wine when you interrupted us.”
“Settle down, Mitch, I get the message. Why don't you take her to our special place? Have you got the key? I can give you mine if you need it.”
“Thank you, Stewart, but I have mine.”
"Wait a minute! You thought I was a sure thing?"
"No, Amy but I had hope. Shall we? See you later, Stewart."
