The sound of footsteps echoed through the house as I walked back to my room with a steaming bowl of ramen, then sat in my chair. I said to myself "Christ, I forgot a fork."

I got up ready to exit the room then suddenly "THUMP THUMP THUMP" goes the bedroom window. Cautiously I approached the window, not entirely ready for what might or might not happen.

When I open the curtain, there stands my best friend, Aaron. A 16 year old optimistic son-of-a-bitch that everyone takes kindly to. He's about 5'6 and African-American, and built like an Ox.

"Dude what the hell are you doing here?" "It's like 12?!" I say completely startled.

Aaron responds out of breath "Trust me, you HAVE to see this." I scratch my head and agree. "I'll be right there"

As I close my back door behind me I see Aaron shivering a couple feet away only in a T-shirt and athletic shorts. "You're a little underdressed don't you think?"

"Yeah!" he says excitedly. "It's one-hundred percent worth it though" I stand there waiting for something that was so worth coming outside at twelve in the morning.

Aaron then sticks his hand in his shorts pocket shuffling around for something. He then pulls out what looks like a metal ball no bigger than a marble.

"You bothered me...to show me a itty bitty ball?" I say irritated. "Ahhhh, but what I can DO with the ball!" He replies.

Aaron closes his hand with the ball in a tight grip and within a blink of an eye the ball extends into what seems to be a metal bow that has intricate curves and about 4 feet in length,

"Umm. No you can't do that. Why did you-HOW DID YOU EVEN DO THAT?!" I say shocked by what just formed from this tiny ball that Aaron wielded.

"But wait there's more!" "Give me your necklace!" he said with so much joy in his voice you'd think he was a different person.

"Yeah, not doing that" I tell him with a deranged look on my face. "Just for a second I swear!" Aaron responded.

"Fine." I hand over my necklace. It's a silver rope chain that I have received from my parents as a child. When Aaron handled the necklace he says "Okay what's your absolute favourite weapon?" I reply almost instantly "A Katana of course."

That moment the necklace morphed into a sword that reflected the moon light like a mirror. It's astonishing how something can be changed into something other than itself.

"How are you doing that?" "I feel like I should call the cops on you or something." I say jokingly.

"I'm just as clueless as you man." He says laughing between his words.

I sit on the picnic table in my back yard. "So can you change anything like that?" I say to him still confused on how he's able to manipulate these objects.

"No." he responds hesitantly. "Well as far as I know only metals work."

The sword shrunk back down to the necklace I once had and he returned it to me. I put the chain back on my neck and let out a sigh.

"Tyler." He said to me and I turned my head. "I feel like a comic book character" I laughed and responded "You practically are" and laughed lightly.

We returned to our homes. Me sneaking in and shutting the door behind me as quietly as possible, and heading in my room to think about what I just witnessed.

I wake up the next morning. It's cold, just as expected from the late October weather. As I get ready for school I feel sick. "My stomach must be disagreeing with me today." I thought to myself as I walked on to my school bus with Aaron and the other kids.
