My parents never came home that night.
I had turned on the news channel, and watched the bomb explode. The reporter had been live on national television, something that has probably never happened to her, being from such a small city.
"A suicide bomber has just blown up Yellowknife, Canada. Further investigation will tell who the bomber is working for, but we suspect Isis. Here is reporter David with the aftermath."
"Thank you, Katrina. The fire has been extinguished, so here we are live at the scene." Everything had been charred or scattered across the area, or both.
"Rescue teams are searching for any trapped survivors. Over here we have what looks like a very large hole created by the explosion. It seems like the bomb was set off here, with a hole this big. Holy cow! Get a close-up on this! I don't exactly know what this is, but- " and the T.V. had blacked out. Then the rest of the electricity.
I hadn't known what that was either. What I had seen made no sense to me at the time. Where that giant hole lied, there was also what had looked like an energy base, with a bunch of other metal chamber-looking boxes. There were wires, projectors, papers, and other items that I had not been able to see clearly.
I had assumed it was some sort of secret energy base company or something, so I had not payed much attention to whatever that was. I should have.
The power had been out for probably about an hour until the tornado sirens went off. I had gone into the basement, since I had no T.V. to tell me that the tornado wasn't near here.
I had sat there for about 15 minutes, then I started hearing voices. By that point I was terrified. Of what I wasn't sure. Now I know.
"Begin Revealing," one of the voices had said.
"Initiation in 3... 2... 1..." nothing happened. Or so I thought. The sirens continued. The power was still out. It wasn't until a half hour later or so that I noticed what Revealing and Initiation meant.
My hands were green. The color was spreading up my arms, my legs, everywhere. I had been freaking out. I had tried calling my parents but my cell phone wasn't working.
Soon my entire body was green. Then my hair had started to change color. It used to be brown. Now it's red. I had no idea what was happening to me or the world.
The truth is that I was always this way. Everything was always the way it is now. It just got Revealed.
After my body was done changing, I started having trouble breathing. I was wheezing. Then my heart rate slowed. I thought I was dying. I wish.
Then my heart stopped beating all together. It seemed as if I was floating through consciousness. Then everything was black for a while.
When I woke everything was white. Except for me. I was still green and red. Soon things started coming into focus. I was on a white floor that extended for miles. It was so clean, I could see my reflection in it.
I had forgotten what I turned into, and had jumped at the sight of myself. My scream had echoed through space. The real space.
Then I had heard a voice.
"Hello?" the voice echoed.
"He- Hello?" I had stuttered in response."Over here. What is going on?" the voice replied as I followed the sound.
"I don't know. But maybe we can figure it out together," I said, reaching the person. She was a female, with purple skin and blue hair."What's your name?" I had asked.
"I don't know." Then she started wheezing.
"Wha-what is happening?" she asked, and fell to the floor. She had started shaking violently. I had lowered myself to the ground, trying to stop the shaking. When the shaking had stopped, she looked up at me with a hungry look in her eyes. She had licked her lips, showing sharp teeth, that I hadn't noticed before. As she rose, I noticed she had very sharp claws instead of fingernails.
"Are yo-you okay?" I had asked, uneasy.
"Just a little hungry," then she started running at me. I had turned and fled the other way. When I looked back, she was close. Too close. I had kept running. Then she tackled me. I had thought she was going to kill me. But as I hit the floor... I had melted through it, and appeared on a different terrain.
The girl was gone. I was alone in a dry, barren landscape. Or so I thought. I would do anything now to be alone. But no, They are always watching. Always.
I had looked around, not seeing anything.
"WHAT IS GOING ON?" I had shouted to no one.
"All in good time," said a male voice. The words surrounded me, as if the man had spoken through surround sound speakers.I had wanted to get out of there. So I had done the only I could think of. I dove for the ground, hoping to melt again. Instead, I had just hit the ground hard and got scraped up.
"Where do you want to go?" asked the man.
"I want to go home," I had replied.
"Alright. Just touch your palms to the ground you will be home," the man had said. I had done what he told me to do. A mistake.I had been taken to a clearing surrounded by trees. It had looked nothing like my home. No, my fake home.
"This isn't my home!" I shout.
"This is your true home. Why don't you throw a house warming party?" The voice had replied.I had been confused, not sure how any of this could be possible, and what the man had meant. I understand now.
I had looked in the trees and saw faces. Purple faces. With blue hair. And claws. And sharp teeth. I had been surrounded. Welcome to the party.
