As you walk the death sentence,
Unable to escape,
You slump down low as you think,
Of your life before this fate.
You had your life all sorted,
Everything was right,
Until that one phone call,
That was to change your life.
The battlefield awaits you,
You decide to stand up tall,
Your entire country depends on you,
They suffer at your fall.
Guns and weapons in your hands,
Heavy as they are,
You feel some sense of pride as you think,
Of your country way afar.
As you breathe your last breath,
On the final bend,
Your last words are "keep going,"
"Take it to the end."
As we remember those who fought,
In those wars before,
We remember those who took,
The burden for us all.
Our country has fought many wars,
That we now regret,
But in honour to those soldiers,
Lest we forget.
