"Please don't look at me. Please don't look at my legs," she chants in her mind. "Just get dressed and it will all be over with."
She puts on her pants for Gym class as fast as possible, using her Gym shirt to cover her upper thighs as much as she could. They did not look at her legs though. They never do. It's just the fear that they will that scares her.
She slips on her Converse and runs to the bathroom. Her legs had been aching all day. She latches the hook to the door and slides her pants down to the floor. "Crap..." She whispers to herself. The little red slits in her thigh are swollen. Her cuts are still there. The scars still haven't faded. And she still hasn't gotten any better.
Right then the Gym coaches yell across the locker room announcing it's time to walk out to the Gym. She pulls up her pants and runs out to find her best friend, Nikki. She peers behind someone and spots her walking with Ali and Kristen.
"Hey, Danni!" Nikki runs up to her and hugs her. "Isn't today just great?"
"Yeah, awesome," Danni says as she feels another sharp pain in her thigh.
