The Surprise
While Harper was at home, probably sulking, Ethan had been planning something for her. His work at office was done within an hour but the surprise took the rest of his time.
By the time he arrived home, it was already past their dinner time. He went upstairs to find Harper sleeping peacefully. He went towards the bed and sat beside her, shaking her shoulder gently.
"Wakey wakey, Harp," he cooed in her ear, making her smile slightly in sleep.
He kept blowing air in her ears gently, but she only swatted his face away and snuggled deeper into the blankets. He knew that she would be hungry because Harper loathed having food alone. She preferred going to bed with an empty stomach, rather than eating alone.
Knowing that it was impossible to wake her up now, he kissed her temple before heading downstairs.
After making a couple of phone calls for Harper's surprise, he changed into his nightwear and got into bed. Throwing an arm around Harper's waist, he pulled her to his chest and sighed deeply. Harper too sighed in content in her sleep and soon enough Ethan was pulled into the land of dreams.

As the sun rose and the birds chirped, Harper stirred in her sleep. She patted the spot next to her only to find it cold and empty. Assuming that Ethan had gotten up early, she sat up on the bed and stretched her back muscles in all the ways possible.
As she walked into the bathroom, yawning, she absent mindedly turned on the tap and splashed cold water on her face. Pulling a clean hand towel, she wiped her face and looked into the mirror to find a note stuck to it.
Carefully peeling it off, she read it out loud, "Morning, honey. You look beautiful as always."
Harper snorted before looking in the mirror again. Her skin was too pale and her plump lips a little too pink.
Her hair was a mess and resembled a bird's nest. But then again, every girl thinks the same way about their hair in the mornings. After brushing her teeth, she exited the bathroom with the note in her hand. She placed the note on the bedside table and padded downstairs, wanting to see Ethan.
As soon as she reached the bottom of the stairs, there was a whole pathway of rose petals, leading towards the kitchen. She gasped softly, her hand flying to her mouth, before she took a step forward, enjoying the feeling of the soft petals on her bare feet.
At the end of the rose petal pathway, a variety of breakfast was laid down on the dining table. Harper took a seat at the table and looked around for any sign of Ethan, but when she didn't find him, her lips turned down slightly.
She frowned slightly as she read another note that had been placed on her plate. "I'm sorry for coming home late yesterday. I made all of this for you, to make up for yesterday. I know you do not like eating alone and you slept empty stomach yesterday but I hope you'll have something rather than staying hungry. So help yourself with all of this. I had to leave early for some work. But I'll be back soon. I love you, baby."
Harper's smile couldn't have been anymore wider. She grinned like a toddler being offered sweets as she gazed at all the dishes Ethan had prepared for her. But her smile turned into a frown when she realised that she didn't have a company to have breakfast with. She dropped the note on the table, before getting up and turning around.
"Woah... Where do you think you're going, honey?" a familiar voice questioned. Harper couldn't have turned around any faster in her life.
There he stood, leaning against the sliding door, dressed in his tracks. His torso was bare, exposing his eight pack abs. His hair a bit disheveled and his grey eyes sparkling in amusement.
"Ethan," Harper breathed, rooted to her spot.
"You're not going to eat any of this? I put in a lot of effort to prepare all of this," Ethan dramatically placed his hand on his bare chest, hurt masked on his face as he took small steps towards her.
Harper made a funny face at him, "Get here already."
Ethan laughed at his wife's impatience and took more slower steps, only to get a reaction out of her. And he did get one, a very good one at that.
Harper took long strides towards him and in a flash, her lips were onto his. The kiss was hot, passionate and full of love. Harper's hands roamed all over his naked torso while Ethan's one hand was on her waist and the other one, caressing the side of her face.
"The breakfast is getting cold," Harper murmured against his lips.
Ethan only hummed in response. Harper pulled away eventually, but Ethan pulled her back and pecked her lips a few more times before escorting her to the breakfast table.
"So there was no work really, was there?" Harper questioned him as she served him breakfast.
"No there wasn't. I just wanted to see your reaction," Ethan confessed, looking at her face.
"You're a meanie," she immaturely stuck her tongue out at him before taking a bite of the delicious waffles.
"So umm... I've been meaning to ask you something," he spoke in a small voice.
Harper nodded for him to go on as she sipped on her hot chocolate. Having hot chocolate on a winter morning was all she could ask for.
"I want to take you out today. So will you go on a date with me?" he blurted out, scratching the back of his neck, nervously.
Harper nodded and resumed her breakfast, oblivious to Ethan's confused face. He merely shrugged his confusion off and started munching on his breakfast as well.
As soon as the words sunk into her mind, Harper paused and turned to look at Ethan. Her eyes wide in surprise and her lips slightly parted. But Ethan was too busy eating to notice her staring at him in pure shock.
Finally getting out of her shocked state, she jumped onto Ethan's lap and hugged him tightly, almost choking him in the process. Ethan only managed to shake his head in amusement before he actually choked on air.
