1. What is a personality theory?  It is a system of concepts, assumptions, ideas, and principles used to understand and explain personality.

2. Is personality a product of nature and nurture?  According to the twin study method on identical and fraternal twins, personality is a product of nature and nurture or both heredity and the environment

3. What are some of the major personality theories?

a. Trait Theories- These theories attempt to learn and explain the traits that make up personality, the difference between people in terms of their personal characteristics, and how they relate to actual behavior.

b. Psychodynamic theories- These theories focus on the inner working of personality, especially internal conflicts and struggles.

c. Behavioristics theories- These theories place importance on the external environment and on the effects of conditioning and learning.

d. Social learning theories- These are the theories that attribute differences in personality to socialization, expectations, and mental processes.

e. Humanistics theories- These theories stress private, subjective experience and personal growth.
