Mystical Waters

Hazel continues on an on for the long, provoking ride. Growing tired of it I grab my ear buds and turn the music up and tune everything out. Even tho she was hovering over my shoulder it was kind of relaxing; the breeze, the trees, and that wonderful smell of the beach, was quit soothing. I'm knocked out of my day dream by another city sign, 'Welcome to Lakewood'.

I insisted on us stopping in a few cities before we go to Hollywood. I look out at the water as Daniel continues to drive so we can get to the nearest convenient store, the blue waters are so enchanting with each wave crashing on to the shore. I can't help but think maybe this is where I have belonged since the beginning.

Daniel brings the truck to a stop at a small convenient store in the little to nothing town. It was gorgeous with the beautiful green palm tree and the glimmering blue waters; it was perfect. Hazel breaks the admiring of the view, "Who's got cash?" I glare over my shoulder, "Excuse me?"

"I don't have any money."

Caitlyn & I swap glances and look to Daniel since he's the idjit who picked her up.

"Don't look at me! I didn't think she'd be broke!"

I get out the truck and begin to walk into the convenient store but Daniel grabs my hand & stops me once I reach the gas pump beside the truck, "I'm sorry" is all he said. "It's fine" I respond pulling my hand back and rolling my eyes. "That's what you always say." Which is true; other than Caitlyn, no one actually knows the gory details of my life. So I don't respond and I walk away.

Caitlyn and I have been doing these convenient store stops for so long that we already know what the other person wants. Caitlyn grabs the drinks, I grab the chips and Daniel met us at the register with cash for snacks and gas. The young male behind the counter steps forward to the register not even looking up from his phone, that seemed attached to his left hand, he begins to scan our things. He finishes and of course asks "Is there anything else I can get you?"

I blurt out kind of harshly "No."

Noticing my tone he looks up and looks at me. Now I can see his face. Sparkling hazel eyes and chestnut brown hair catch my eye. He was very, and I mean very, easy on the eyes. Not to sound creepy but I could totally stare at him all day long. I am distracted from my thoughts by the next words that come out his soft pink lips, "I'm sorry, there's been an emergency with my family. I hate to be rude." His voice is deep and smooth.

"Oh. It's fine. I hope everything will be okay" ,I reply blushing still keeping eye contact.
"You three probably all have somewhere better to be than here so.... Anything else I can get for you guys?"

"I'll take your number if that's cool with you?" I let out fancying his looks and how sensitive he seemed to be with family. He scratches the back of his neck blushing,
"Cool? Yeah... That's totally cool with me." Awkward and still blushing he writes it on the back of our receipt and slides it to me.
"Thanks. I'll text you" I wink and turn to walk out the door. Daniel is glaring at me but I push it off and continue my stroll to his truck.

Hazel is all over some rich guy. If a brand new Ferrari, new tires, & rims, with the sound of a 660 horsepower, didn't say he probably had a good amount of money in his hands, I don't know what would. He stood confidently and wore a suit & tie. I almost began their way until he noticed I was staring so got in the truck instead. Realizing that we could leave Hazel with that guy, whoever he was, I wish him luck.

'Uhh?' Cait asks.

'What?'

'What did you just say?' she replies.

Realizing I had spoken out loud, "Whoever he was, I wish him luck."

'Oh... nothing. Just mumbling to myself.'

She continues to stare into my eyes looking for confirmation. She sighs "Okay" as Daniel finally gets into the truck. Not even being aware that Hazel wasn't in the truck, he leaves the gas station and turns up the radio. Our song is on, he & I have a song that we call our song, 'I Walk Beside You' by Dream Theater.

Daniel and I swapped glances and Cait look at us with an irritated face, she knows what coming, we began yelling the lyrics "There's a story in your eyes." He and I sing in harmony "I can see the hurt behind your smile, for every sign I recognize, another one escapes me."

We continue and Cait joins in "Don't abandon me or think you can't be saved!" We are steadily singing until Daniel pulls up to a small town dinner.

I freeze because I love dinners. I look at him and smile a cheesy grin "Thank you, my lovely." I call him that sometimes just to see his cute, blush reaction. "You're welcome, Princess" he replies teasingly, throwing his arm over my shoulder. I hear Cait from behind us "Can you two just get a room?!?"

I roll my eyes and look back at her "Aweee! You jealous Wife?" I toy with her. "Duh! You're my Wife! We have rings. There for you belong to me & I belong to you!" Cait & I got matching princess rings and we call them our engagement rings. "Okay!!!" I pretend to be aggravated and pouting, I walk to Cait leaving Daniel holding the door open for us. "There. Happy?" "Yes!" she replies as we intertwine fingers and walk in to Renee's Dinner.
