Amber's point of view
I wake up to the smell of pancakes in the morning. For breakfast I usually have a Kind Bar if I am going to school early, but today is Saturday. I get ready to meet Matt for are social justice project, but I woke up late. I was supposed to wake up at eight today, but I forgot to set an alarm.
I pick up my phone to check the news. Yes, I know that I am a really boring person. Then, I look at the time, ten o'clock.
Shit.
I get a up from my bed and walk to my bathroom.
I look at my self in the mirror and wonder "Why do I even try." I put on Spotifty to start my day because, without music it would just be pain boring. After straightening my hair for about thirty minutes, I go to my closet to pick something out. As usual I pick a basic white tee, distressed black jeans, and white black top converses.
After getting dressed, I walk down stairs to see Jenny cooking pancakes.
"Hello dear, did you sleep well?"
"Yes I did," I said as grabbing a pancake from the plate and a napkin, "Do you know where my parents went?"
"They went to the office today in a hurry. Also they wanted me to tell you that they need you there at about one o'clock today."
What? I never get called to my parents office, I don't even remember the last time I went there.
"Okay, thanks for telling me," I said nervelessly.
I start to walk to the front door to pick up my backpack, but I get stopped by Jenny telling me something.
"Remember that you are your own person," she said.
"I promise I will."
That's weird, why would she say that thought as I grab my keys, helmet, and backpack and head out the door.
.........
"Really Amber," Matt said in his smart obnoxious voice, "Your at a cafe and you are just getting tea?
"You know what, for a second there you just sounded like a girl." I said with laughter in my voice. "And you know I don't like coffee."
"But you said that you wanted to come here."
"Yeah, only because I knew no one would be here."
Matt and I look around the cafe, I spot this one elderly couple walking out of the door. The man holds the car door for lady and closed it when she sat down. That's what marriage is? Having to take care of each other for the rest of your life? I wonder what it feels like to have someone love you back. No one would ever love me. Then I hear Matt's voice.
"So, where do you want to start on the project," he said while taking papers out of his briefcase as I turn around.
"Oh, I thought today we could just hang out and not do the project today? Is that fine with you?"
"You've read my mind. I don't want to this shit anyways today."
"So, where do you want to going maybe?"
"The bookstore, I need to pick up a new book anyways."
"Really? A bookstore is your first thought? You have three big book shoves full of books and you need more? You should get out more."
"Says the girl who binge watches Netflix on her computer and sits on her lazy ass all day long. And you think I need to get out more."
Cold.
