"Maddie! It's time to wake up!" My Mum called from upstairs. I rolled out of bed and made my way to my wardrobe. I pulled out an AFI shirt that I paired with black skinny jeans. I pulled them on and walked to the bathroom, taming my wild hair and running a straightener over it. I grabbed my Slipknot bag after brushing my teeth and walked upstairs, groaning as I fell on the last step.
"That was amazing! Oh my god yes!" My twin older brothers yelled. I sighed and stood up, shaking around my probably sprained ankle.
"I really hate you guys."
"No you don't, you love us." They said simultaneously. A cold shiver ran down my back and I shook my head, walking to the kitchen and grabbing an apple on my way out.
"Have a good day at school honey!" Mum called on my way out. I waved with my right hand, not looking back as I took a huge bite of the Granny Smith apple. I grabbed my skateboard out of the bush and stepped on, pushing off with my right foot as I continued to eat the apple. After 5 minutes and a very delicious apple, I got a phonecall. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and answered, slowing down a bit to turn the corner. I put the phone up to my ear, speeding up again as I saw that I still had about 40 minutes before I got to school.
"Maddie."
"Georgia."
"There's a new guy at school."
"Good for you." I answered, smiling when my best friend huffed.
"C'mon! At least talk like a normal person."
"Okay. He hot?"
"Not my type."
"Angelica's?"
"Nope."
"Cecilia's?"
"Uh uh."
"Christine's?"
"Seriously?"
"Cheray's?" I questioned, running out of types of girls that I'm friends with. We were a very, eclectic, group of girls. First of all, Georgia, she was the pretty, funny girl that had all the guys after her. Her Samoan skin made me feel even paler when I was with her and the girls. Christine, the nice one, never swore, always helped people and was never rude. Angelica, the hilarious one that made you laugh at the worst times. She was the closest to my age, still being 1 year older than me. Cecilia, the nerd, she was insanely smart, pretty and had guys falling at her feet. Cheray, the sporty girl, she was nice, always leant you money when you needed food and helped you with anything outdoorsy. Then there was me. Maddie, the shortest and palest of them all. Cheray, Christine, Angelica and Georgia all had dark skin, coming from their heritage. Cecilia was tanned, always in the sun and doing things outside, while I stayed in my room with blackout curtains and Slipknot blaring 24/7. I stood out like a sore thumb with the girls. My black skinny jeans, black band tees and constant raccoon eyes made me unapproachable. That and the fact that I had beat up many of my friend's ex boyfriends for being dicks.
"Not that I know of.""Mine?"
"Yes! I'm looking at him now. Should I introduce myself? See what time table he has?"
"Does he look lost?"
"Fuck yeah."
"Sure. Keep me on the phone, I wanna hear." I told her, crossing the street and almost getting run over.
"YOU MOTHERFUCKING CUNT!" I screamed at the car. He flipped me off out the window but I continued on my way to school.
"What happened?"
"Little fucking bitch almost ran me over. Fucking dick."
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm about 15 minutes away from school. Introduce yourself." I could hear Georgia putting her phone in her pocket, mainly because she was telling me what she was doing.
"Hi! I'm Georgia, you must be new." Georgia said in her peppy, people voice.
"Uh, yeah. I'm Vinny. Do you know where Mr Haner's music is?" A deep voice asked nervously. I could hear Georgia's happy squeal.
"Yeah, I do. My best friend is in that class, so I'll get her to lead you there. She should be here soon. So, where did you move from?" Georgia asked peppily. I rolled my eyes and continued to skate as fast as I could. I saw a big Slipknot poster on the side of my favourite music store and didn't have time to slow down. I leapt off my board and landed awkwardly, picking up the worn out skateboard and looking at the poster. It was just a promotion. And here I was getting my hopes up for nothing. I got back on the board and rode to school, making it there in 31 minutes, rather than the 45 it normally takes. I threw my skateboard in the bush I always leave it in and walked into the school building, already being greeted by Cheray and Christine. I tried to see Georgia over the crowd of people but my 5'3 stature did not allow that. I pushed my way through and found her talking to a guy with a baseball hat on. He was wearing black skinny jeans and a black t-shirt. I walked up to Georgia and jumped on her back, almost falling to the ground. I looked up at the guy, Vinny I think his name was, and immediately liked what I saw. He had a sharp jaw line and blue/green eyes that were enchanting to say the least. Georgia held onto my legs, making sure I wouldn't slip off. I rested my head on her shoulder and closed my eyes, happy that I had friends. I tapped her back and she let go of my legs, letting me jump down and look at her outfit.
"Looking good Geo." I turned to Vinny to see that he was staring at Cecilia. I walked over to her and slung my arm around her shoulder. I walked her over to Georgia and Vinny, Christine, Angelica and Cheray following.
"Hey, I'm Vinny." He introduced, still looking at Cecilia.
"I'm Cecilia. Most people call me Cece." She introduced, turning on her charm. I patted her back and walked to my locker, grabbing my drumsticks and dropping off my bag. I saw that Vinny was talking to the girls animatedly. I decided not to interrupt their conversation and left for my music class. My teacher was the only one in the room, playing around with a guitar.
"Hey Syn. How are you?" I asked the world famous guitarist.
"Pretty good. You?"
"Eh, friends stealing my only shot at having a boyfriend, but yeah. Not too bad." I told him with a laugh.
"You finally found someone?!" He asked, shocked. Syn was my only friend the past two years and would try to help me find someone that was my 'type'. We could never find anyone, so this was amazing news for him.
"Yeah, he looked more Cecilia's type. Which is why they're flirting. He was wearing like, the exact same thing as me, he had a hat on though. That was the only difference. Oh, and he had a H.I.M shirt on."
"You can't let those girls keep stealing guys you like!""He was staring at her before he even looked at me. And he's your new student."
"Vinny Mauro?"
"Yep. I'm gonna go play. I'll be back in time for roll call."
"Thanks Madz."
"Thanks Syn." I walked over to the soundproofed room and put my headphones over my head, pressing shuffle on my iPod. Sweet Dreams by Marilyn Manson came on and I smiled. This was one of my favourite songs but it didn't have much on drums. I skipped and Beast and Harlot came on. I smirked and started smashing the drums with so much force, I'm surprised I didn't break the snare, again. I played through a heap of songs before turning off my phone and taking the headphones off. I stepped out just as the class walked into the room, Vinny coming in last with a big smile on his face.
A/N: Hey! Thank you so much for reading! I'll be posting roughly once a week, don't hold me to that XD, school is quite hectic for me at the moment and will be until like September, so I apologise in advance for any late updates. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the story.
