She thought it would be nothing more than a summer fling. A fleeting phase she could shake off like sand clinging to sun-kissed skin. But it wasn't that simple. Not when it came to Isaiah Hendrick De Guia. He wasn't forgettable-he was addictive. Fro...

I saw the wedding organizers starting to gather. They said it was just a rehearsal before the big day. Makes sense-no one wants to mess up, especially the bridesmaids and groomsmen. The bridal entourage started arriving one by one. Gabe was here too, looking sharp, as always. A few new faces popped up-probably relatives of the bride. But still no sign of Ashton or Ali.
Where the hell is Ashton? He texted me last night: "Promise, I'll be there before the practice starts." But there's only five minutes left before everything begins.
Damn it, Ashton. What are you up to this time? I called him. No answer. I called again. Still nothing. Pick up, you idiot! This is the third call!
Then one of the organizers walked up to me with a hesitant look. "Ashton texted. He's skipping the wedding. Business matters, apparently."
What?!
My jaw tightened as my brain screamed, Ashton Cain Quijano, you absolute moron. I caught the organizer stealing a glance at Gabe... no, not at him. Just beside him. Hendrick.
Why did I suddenly get a sinking feeling in my stomach?
The rehearsal started. The entourage was being arranged-groom, best man, bridesmaids, groomsmen. I took my place in the back, since I'm the one guiding the bride. But then I heard hushed whispers from some of the other bridesmaids.
"The replacement for the best man is hot, apparently."
Curiosity burned through me. They mentioned a last name. No... no way.
I leaned forward to get a better look. And just like that, reality hit me square in the chest.
It's Hendrick.
Of all people.
And then it hit me even harder-Ashton's out, and as maid of honor, I'm now automatically paired with the best man. That best man. Hendrick.
