He asked her if she was okay
And she laughed
A little too hard
And smiled
A little too big
And told him she was okay
And in that moment
He realized
She wasn't okay
At all
He asked her
If she was okay
And she wrote him a poem
Called "happiness"
And she held his hand to tight
As he read it
And get smile was strained
He frowned
She didn't actually answer him
He asked her if she was okay
But she didn't reply so
He went to her house
And found her
On the bathroom floor
Covered in blood, a broken memory
He held her
And all the damn words in the world
Couldn't save her
In that moment
