After leaving the ruins, you turn back to see the door was making loud noises from the other side. Toriel was trying to get out, you couldn't blame her, it was a horrifying place to be stuck in. You walk back towards the entrance, pulled the vines off as best as you could despite being small, and began to speak as the pounding continues making you cry. "T-Toriel, I'm s-so sorry for l-leaving you and everything you p-promised me." Your heart grows heavy, and began sobbing loudly making the pounding stop. "Thank you, even after w-what you tried to do to me." The door peaks open, though you don't seem to notice as you continue crying. "Y-your the only one who truly cares about me." The doors open a bit more. "Child..." you hear a voice of the motherly guardian who kept you safe. "If what you say is true..." you hear a faint sound coming from the entrance. "...Then let me do what is best for you." You wonder why she said that, then suddenly, a hand emerged from the door and grabbed you by your shirt. You start kicking the air as she raised you up high. You screamed and cried more tears, you had no choice but to beg. "M-MOMMY, D-DON'T KILL ME! PLEASE!" Suddenly, the struggling stopped, surprising her, this was the first time you called Toriel "mom", because she was the only monster who cared for you. "...no. What am...What am I doing?" She gently set you down. You couldn't stop crying as she lifted your chin up to look at her, wiping your tears. "I...I am so sorry. This is not who I am...please my child, don't cry." Her arm wrapped around you for an embrace to calm you. "I...and my friends...we have been trapped here for so long, with so little, that we have forgotten who we are." She let go and held your shoulder. "Yet your words, they remind me of another human who passed through here." You were saddened by her words, not wanting to speak. "I know you cannot forgive me. I know that what I have committed is unforgivable." You wished you could hug her right now. "But please. Please do not forget me. Tell me you will save my friends and myself from this wretched place...Promise me you will save us." You look down with sadness. "I...I promise." She didn't seem convinced. "My child...please look me in my eyes when you say so." You look up to see her eyes are welled up with tears. "Promise me I won't die here." You cry as well. "I promise...mom." Toriel smiled softly and gently rubbed your cheek. "Thank you child...you are good to think well of me, despite what I have become." She let go of you. "Now go. Quickly, before I forget myself again. Goodbye...dear child." You shake your head. "This isn't goodbye." Toriel felt confused by what you said. "I'll come by to visit you again, your my mommy after all...pinkie promise?" You raise your pinkie finger up to her, her eyes welled up with tears, for you have given her hope and happiness. She raised her pinkie to yours and wrapped both fingers together. "A pinkie swear is forever, so I won't break our promise! I'll free you from the ruins and everyone else!" You laughed and began running into the woods. Toriel chuckled at your determination. "You are a strange one my child...until I see you again." She closes the door, knowing her child will return to her and will save everyone in the Underground, including her.
