George Washington Middle School, Ridgewood, New Jersey
October 2, 2012, 5:32pmIt was at the end of yet another school day and Justus were as all Tuesdays leaning against his car on the small empty middle school parking lot. He were waiting for his little brother to get out of his science club. Justus weren't even sure what Darren did in half of his clubs, he had way too many of them, and the kid hadn't even graduated Junior High yet. But since Justus had practice five days a week, four of those after school hours and Fridays being game night, it was probably for the best that his little brother occupied himself the best he could considering that Justus were apparently on permanent get-lil-bro-home duty.
On normal days after his late night practice Justus could just take his car and drive home, but now when his baby brother had decided to take on all sorts of extra-curricular activities after school that usual schedule he had were shattered into pieces, since apparently Justus needed to wait in for Darren and then drive home together. Needless to say none of them were happy about that arrangement; Justus because that basically destroyed the little social life he could have between practice and dinner now when he were grounded for the next two months, and Darren because it somehow embarrassed him. On second thoughts, it embarrassed Justus too.
He didn't even know exactly what he had done to make his dad dictate him about these new rules of his. The big party he had come home from around two weeks ago, drunk out of his mind and ended up puking down the entire bathroom may had a small part of it. Justus wasn't particular sure though. He did a lot of stuff his father weren't particular fond of. The mail boxing was another one for an example. They usually were a hell of a lot of fun, a lot of fun and a lot of drinking. But on one night though the guy that ended up behind the wheel had perhaps too much of drink (and perhaps Justus too when he let his mind really think about it), and Justus had ended up misjudging the distance and speed that the mailbox were and came in, and he had ended up with a fractured wrist. The really weird part of it though was that he hadn't really felt it until the day after, but his dad hadn't really wanted to listen to him when Justus had tried to explain the benefits of his drunkenness that evening. But hey, that happens sometimes. He was a teenager, a popular teenage boy with hormones going crazy and in good positions on two of the bigger school teams. Shit was bound to happen sometimes. Probably more during drinking but that just made it even more fun really.
When Justus were just about to die out of boredom a familiar head finally made its way from the doors of the middle school that had been Justus' school for just three years ago. Darren were hurrying towards him in much the familiar haste that his brother always seemed to have, like he needed to make up time or something. Justus pushed off with his shoulders from where he had been leaning casually against his car and grinned at his younger brother.
"So what did you kids do for fun today?"
Darren frowned, slowing down his pace momentarily to then pick it up. "I'm not a kid, Justus."
"Of course not," Justus chuckled, "how silly of me. You're all grown up being fourteen and all."
"You're just seventeen yourself, shitass," Darren snapped, angrily pulling on his two straps of his backpack.
"At least I'm in High School," Justus snickered while throwing his car keys back and forth between his hands.
"At least I'm passing high school subjects," Darren shot right back when he turned to get around the front of the car and to the passenger seat.
Justus barely registered that a dark colored van was pulling up at the parking lot and slowly approaching, just thinking that it was a parent or other unfortunate sibling that were picking up another member of Darren's club. Considering the choice of vehicle it was probably more a sibling. Instead he turned his full attention back towards Darren.
