*beep, beep, beep, be-*

"Ughh.."

I rolled onto my side and pulled the batteries from my alarm clock. My eyes burned as I opened them. "Same old room" I thought to myself, looking around the place I call home.

I rolled out of bed and kept tripping on all of the clutter on my floor, but I somehow managed to get to my closet. Honestly the hardest part of the day was waking up and getting dressed. I dreaded the second I opened my eyes, the very moment I realized I was still here in this place.

I grabbed a pair of tight blue jeans, a blue and purple plaid shirt, and my black converse. As I yanked everything on, I stared in the mirror. My long copper hair was curled and tangled in a mess, my makeup had been smeared from crying, my hazel eyes had dark grey rings underneath them from not enough sleep, and my lips were torn and scarred from biting them all night. If I bite them hard enough, I'll get enough control over the pain.

I walked into the bathroom, grabbed a towel, and began to wash my face in the sink. The water felt like ice but I loved it. After finishing doing all my regular morning activities, I put on a small amount of makeup. A touch of blush, eyeliner, and mascara should be good enough. At least I hope it is.

"Adelaide, you're going to be late! Get in the car and go, your face looks fine!" my mom yelled from the kitchen.

"I'll leave in a minute." I walked out of the bathroom and grabbed my keys off the counter.

"Are you seriously wearing that to school?" Of course we'd have to do this again, it happens every morning. "Yes mother dearest, what possible problem could you have with my outfit this time?" "Watch your tone with me," she said. "I just think that you could try to look a little more cute is all. You know, try a little harder."

She put her hand on her hip as she stared me down. My mom is a little shorter than I am, she's 5'0 and I'm 5'2. I think it's funny how she tries to pretend she's taller than she actually is. She has dark brown hair that she dyes each month, her real hair color is slowly changing from blonde to white, and dull hazel eyes that'll steal your happiness if you're not careful. She may be small, but she is fierce. Of course that's where I get it from.

I scoffed and walked towards the door. "thanks mom," I replied grabbing my bag. "But no thanks, I think I'll stick to looking like the real me." Before she could answer I shut the door, hopped into my car and started it. After a few sputters, my baby finally turned over. "That's a girl" I said patting my steering wheel. I sighed as I pulled out of my driveway. "What an amazing way to start my day" I thought to myself.

"How could I ever wish for anything else?"
