He knew exactly how this was going to play out, back to the wall and suddenly his fingertips became cold.
Guilt consumed him. Should he feel bad? Could he?

"Does it always have to play out like this?"

A sigh, the breath slipping from his lips and forming a cloud around them. He wanted to go home, crawl into his bed and pretend none of this ever happened.
Well it was, and jeez, he has to stop talking to himself inside his head.

"You took it apon yourself, freak,"
"Nobody calls him a freak but me, that's my job."

And he swooped in, almost Superman like, but a little lazier, arrow cocked in the notch of the bow.

"My hero,"

He scoffs and rolls his eyes, looking away. Roy felt his heart twinge, almost giddy.
The thief looked between the two, one odder than the other.
A boy, tall and thin, dressed in a black sweatshirt and jeans, was leaned against the brick wall in an irritated manner.
The other, a redhead that Steel City learned to hate with a burning passion, stood in front of him, albeit an arrow was about three inches away from his neck, Speedy was in total lovestruck mode.

"Roy, you're such a moron!"
"Me? I saved your ass!"

In short, the thief got away and therefore one blamed the other.

"Why did you hesitate? I shouldn't have had to step in!"
"Oh, so it's a big issue for you to step in and help! Why were you acting like a complete doofus? Couldn't you just have shot him?"
"That's not the problem here and you know it! You've been holding something back and I've got a right to know what!"
"You've got some nerve Roy Harper."

He stands, arms crossed, eyes downcast.

"I felt guilty, okay? I know they were doing something bad. And it's my job to stop people from doing bad things. But I just...couldn't. Some people steal for the kicks, but in my heart if people steal, they needed it for a purpose they couldn't afford. You of all people should know that."

And suddenly Roy goes silent. He doesn't know what to say.
He knows he has to say something.

"I shouldn't have stepped in. It was your call. My bad,"
"If that's your poor choice of an apology...you're forgiven."

They stood and looked at each other for a little while.

"Would it be silly if I asked you to go on a date right now?"
"It's not silly, insane rather, but I gladly comply."
