After Fawkes sang at Dumbledores funeral he sat in his study and cried and cried until they put up Dumbledores painting.

Everyday and night, all Fawkes did was lay beside Dumbledore's painting. He wouldn't dare move. He missed his friend.

He sat in silence until Harry comes into the study with the memory that Snape has given him. Fawkes continues just laying there but peeks up to watch Harry. He remembers Harry. Harry is loyal to Dumbledore. He decides after almost a year that it's time to finally get out and fly again.

After he goes outside, he sees Dumbledores Army fighting and some even dying for the cause of saving the school. He knows about Dumbledore's army. He heard that they fought Voldemort at the ministry at the end of Harry's fifth year. As he watched, the fact that so many people were loyal to Dumbledore filled his heart. As he remembers Dumbledore, he starts to cry a little. He knows what he needs to do.

He attempts to heal all people with actual injuries that can be healed. After Hogwarts had victory he goes to the hospital wing, just in case there's more students to be brought up.

After the battle he became a forever healer of Hogwarts. He sometimes would go around the castle to see if anybody needed help. But mainly, he waited in the hospital wing ready for any student injured that could be healed by him. Madame Pomfrey smiled because this form of healing could reduce the pain sometimes. She learned to work side by side with him. Sometimes, he's use his tears, sometimes he's sit beside students to make them feel better, sometimes he's send messages to teachers for potions they need or a specific charm needed, and he would carry them back. He'd fly between students getting bullied and visit students when he knows they're sad. He loves everyone at Hogwarts and everyone loves him. But, every night, McGonagall would see him swoop in and rest right beside Dumbledore's painting. Painting Dumbledore smiled at him proudly. Fawkes looks up at his old owner and feels proud of himself, because he went on instead of grieving forever.
