The first day of school was most likely going to be the hardest of them all for Len.
Having to adjust to being around Rin even more was definitely going to take time. And patience. Dear Lord, would it take patience.
As much as he loved her platonically, she could get absolutely impossible to deal with. Not to hurt her feelings, but how Luka would deal with it was beyond him. Though, he had to admit, Luka did seem to make her a bit calmer, somehow. He had the feeling he really didn't want to know how.
All throughout the first day, he noticed, she got clingy. Very, very clingy. She definitely had to work to get people to notice the new relationship- or, at least, the fake new one- between them. While he was sure she felt ready to take on any challenge- and he was positive she had come up with the story of how they got together- he was already exhausted by the end of the first day.
Is this what relationships were like? Geez, maybe he was aromantic, too.
Once Rin left to go meet up with Luka, he felt like he had a weight lifted off his chest. Never before had he thought she could tire him out enough to just want to go straight home, but he knew questions were coming his way.
"She seemed so much closer to you at lunch today, hmmmm?" Asked one of the girls beside him. He turned to look quickly at who was speaking. A taller greenette, Gumi, apparently.
"Yeah, dude. What about it?" He asked, immediately turning to face her. Whatever she may ask, he just hoped he would have some answer.
"So~? What happened?" Gumi asked, giggling and raising a green eyebrow. "Rin never told me about this!"
Shit.
He had no idea what to say. Such an open ended question... He didn't know what she was looking for. How they got together? When? Where? What time exactly? The last meal they had together? How in the hell was he supposed to answer this without-
"-Earth to Len? Jeez, I had no idea this caused you such an emotional rollercoaster," Gumi sighed, seeing as she wouldn't get an answer from him immediately.
"Shouldn't you ask Rin? I mean, she is the one who's.. better at explaining things," Len quickly sputtered out, leaving Gumi with a confused look on her face. She eyed him suspiciously, but decided to leave it and walk away.
Len took a sigh of relief, deciding he would take the chance to quickly get home. He knew she didn't quite believe him, but he just hoped that his lie didn't completely break his act.

Squealing, Rin quickly jumped at Luka, a bright smile on her face.
"Luka, it worked! It really worked!" Rin exclaimed happily, seeming to get happier with every word. Luka laughed as she hugged the girl (with much struggle, seeing as she was practically bouncing).
"I still think this is overkill, but I appreciate your devotion, shortcake," Luka admitted, her tone almost sarcastic as she pulled away. Rin only rolled her eyes.
"Whatever, it's working, isn't it? I'm happy about it!" Rin complained, pouting, a bit upset Luka didn't seem to appreciate it as much as she said she did.
"I know, I know. It's just a bit much, you know?" Luka said, laughing a bit. "Like, pretending to have an entire relationship to hide a real one. We're two girls, people in this heteronormative school are just going to thing we're friends, no matter what we do". Rin shrugged.
"I... I guess.. I didn't want to take any chances, I guess," Rin muttered. Luka only laughed to herself, but shook her head. She seemed to have something else to say, but for some reason held it back.
