I walked in with the teacher and instantly spotted Saturday in the back corner with her nose in one of those fantasy books. I held back a frown then had to hold back a smile because you could her eyes fill with wonder then her eyebrows become drawn down as if somebody was being hurt. It was pretty cute.
I could hear the teacher begin to announce me to the class then Saturday's head went up, almost reluctantly and watched me. In the distance I heard the teachers voice coming into to focus," he's here from..." she stopped and I realized she was waiting for me to continue.
"Ireland," I blurted out. Smooth, Ireland. You don't know anything about Ireland and you don't even have and accent.
" You can sit beside Saturday in the back," Ms. Chistein explained.
I nodded my head to show my acknowledgement of what the teacher had said. Looking around the classroom as if I was pretending to find Saturday, I "spotted" her and dropped her a wink. I smiled when her eyes widened and her mouth dropped open into a surprised 'o' she quickly dropped her head allowing her hair to cover her face.
When I started walking over to where she sat her head lifted once more and her beautiful green eyes followed me to the desk beside her. I withdrew my gaze realizing how much of an idiot I must look like right now gawking at my mission.
The teacher asked for somebody to get me caught up and said I could choose who I thought would do the best job getting me caught up. I told her that Saturday had already volunteered to get me caught up which was met with a glowering gaze from Saturday.
Once again October master of smooth. Your supposed to befriend her and she's already mad at you. Way to go.
All of a sudden her eyes widened and she looked confused then she shot right up out of her chair and stormed out of the classroom leaving me to follow her. Must be her gift. She's kind of cute when she's mad though...FOCUS!
I found Saturday just around the corner sitting against the wall with her legs crossed out in front of her and her arms crossed over her chest. She looked up once she heard the door close and glowered at me. "Why did you say I would help you?" She angrily and not too politely demanded of me.
"Because I thought you would do the best job. Plus you seem pretty smart," I answered politely.
"And how exactly do you know that, you just got here so unless you were spying on me there is no way you would know that so yeah," she remarked with a tight lipped smile, then she stood up and marched back inside.
Dammit! She was right. How did I explain that. And now she's gone and even angrier with me.
Sighing and lifting my head from my hands I stood up mentally slapping my self in the face. I walked back into the classroom only to find Saturday gone.
