“Well this is perfect!” I sarcastically shouted from my closet.
It was the first day back at school; even though it was term two it was still important I look my best. But today sucked, I couldn’t find my shoes, they were in my closet yesterday and today they had disappeared, like quite literally, it was like they had fallen off the face of the earth. I was crapping myself.
“Mu-u-u-um!” I nagged. I hope this works I thought as I ran into her room. “My shoes are gone! I need new ones!”
“No you don’t!” she yelled furious.
“But…”
“No buts!” she screamed back “Ask your sister for a pair.” I left her room and plundered towards my sisters’ room.
“Claire! Can I borrow a…” I choked on my words “Get them off now!” I shouted at the top of my lungs.
“No! I like them, use a pair of mine.” She said cheerfully.
“If you don’t take them off I will hurt you!” I yelled threateningly.
“You can’t hurt me.” She spoke uncertainly.
“You sure?” I asked, determined to get my shoes back. I pounced on her, and in one swift movement, I had her pinned to the ground, squishing her with my small weight.
“How?” She coughed.
“Magic.” I said sharply. Pushing harder on her chest I asked, “Will you give me my shoes back?”
“Yes, just get off me.” She said adding a shove at the end. She took my shoes off and handed them to me. Glaring, she took a pair of her joggers out of the cupboard and put them on, she looked disgusted with them, as if she thought they were ugly, and mind you, they were.
I got to school at eight, my hair in a messy bunch, pinned back by bobby pins my uniform ironed, for once, and my pristine white socks up to the middle of my shins with my newly polished shoes tied up and ready to go.
“Hey Dimitri!” I hollered playfully as I saw him, he was sitting there with Lane and Jake, as usual, they were always the first to get here early. It was always; ‘I’ll arrive at seven-thirty in the morning so I’m not late to my eight-thirty classes’, ugh, boys. Mason showed up at about ten passed eight and I got up and gave him a hug – he was the only guy that would allow hugging – and realised he smelled super nice to me; at least I hope I wasn’t dreaming. Nicolai showed up from one of his early classes and sat down beside us.
“Hey!” I said happily.
“Oh my god, not you.” He replied, although the look he gave me after seemed a little too nice. Even though Dimitri and Nicolai were twins, I could tell them apart, one was nice, and the other was quite rude at times, and the fact that I’d fallen for Dimitri doesn’t change the fact I think he’s nice, he really is, even if he is a snob sometimes, he’s still nice about it. Nicolai however, he was just as rude as the next guy.
